Preparing for vacation
If your refrigerator has a dLspenser and there Jsany pos.dbility that the temperature can drop
below freezing where the refrigerator L_locate4 the water suppty system (including the water
tank and the water vatve) must be drained by a qualified servicer°
For short vacations or absences (three months or tess):
1 Remove all perishables,
2 If no one will be checking on the refrigerator during your absence, remove all frozen items also.
Shut off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day ahead of time.
After the last load of ice drops, raise the wire shut off arm to the OFF position.
Empty the ice bin.
Where avaihb[e activate Vacation Mode (see page 13).
s If the room temperature will drop below 55 ° F (13 ° C), follow the instructions for longer absences.
For tong vacations, absences (more than three months) OR if the room temperature wilt
drop betow 55 ° F (13° C):
'I Remove all food from both compartments.
Shut off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day before you leave.
After the last load of ice drops, raise the wire shut off arm to the OFF position.
o Empty the ice bin.
2 Remove the water filter cartridge and install the filter bypass. Dispose of the used cartridge.
3 Turn the Freezer control to OFF.
4 Unplug the refrigerator.
s Thoroughly dean the interior of both compartments with a baking soda solution (four
tablespoons of baking soda in 1 qt (1 L) of warm water) and a clean, soft cloth.
6 Dry thoroughly.
7 Leave the doors open to prevent the formation ofmNd and mildew.
Preparing to move
Follow the instructions for long vacations/absences, through to step 6.
Secure all loose items such as shelves and drawers by taping them securely in place to prevent
damage.
Tape the doors shut.
Use an appliance dolly when moving the refrigerator. ALWiS/YStruck the refrigerator from its side
or back - NEVER from its front (see page 5).
Be sure the refrigerator stays in an upright position during moving.
