3 INSTALLATION
3.1 Power Supply
The PROLITE-90 is a portable instrument powered by a rechargeable 7.2 V,
1500 mAh, NiCd battery. The instrument comes with a mains adapter which enables the
PROLITE-90 to be connected to the mains for operation and battery charging.
3.1.1 Operation Using the Mains Adapter
The instrument has a 230 V / 50-60 Hz mains adapter for EUROPE and other
countries to power the PROLITE-90. (See accessories to request other types of
adapters).
Connect the mains adapter to the PROLITE-90 using the external power
connector [9] located at the bottom left-hand side of the instrument. Connect the
adapter to the mains to start up battery charging. Next, press the PROLITE-90 ON/OFF
key
[6]. Under these conditions the instrument starts to operate.
Before using the mains adapter make sure that it is the appropriate one for your
mains voltage.
Before using the mains adapter make sure that the battery is installed.
The mains adapter is designed for indoor use.
3.1.2 Operation Using the Battery
For the instrument to work with the battery you need only press the start/stop
key
[6]. With the battery fully charged, the PROLITE-90 has an approximate
autonomy of 80 hours uninterrupted operation.
When the battery is flat, the instrument will not start up or, if working, will switch
off.
The LOW BATT. indicator [7] will be lit whenever the battery charge condition is
low and a charge process is required.
3.1.3 Battery Charging
To fully charge the battery with the PROLITE-90 switched off, connect the
mains adapter to the power input [9]. Then connect the adapter to the mains, you will
observe that the indicator CHARGE [8] remains illuminated stating that the battery is
charging. The battery charging time depends on the state of the battery. If the battery is
flat, battery charging will take some 14 hours.
