8.2 Connecting Data Collector and inverter

Risk of death due to electrical shock and discharge
Always de-energise the device during installation and
before maintenance and repairs and lock to prevent it being
switched back on.
Important! After disconnecting from power supply, wait fi ve
minutes for the capacitors to discharge.
WARNING: Only a qualifi ed electrician may open and perform work on the
unit. There are deadly voltages in the inverter during operation.
Note: You will fi nd more information about the inverter's network confi gura-
tion in the installation and operating instructions in chapter 6.2.1 "Con-
necting to the web server of the inverter" in the "Confi guring the network"
section.
8.2.1 PIKO inverter with communication board I
Data Collector connection to PIKO inverter without local network:
Take cover off PIKO inverter.
Connect a crossover cable to the RJ45 connection of the PIKO in-
verter and Data Collector (Fig. 1).
Fit cover on PIKO inverter.
Data Collector connection to a system with several PIKO inverters with a
local network (see Fig. 2 (2b)):
Connect Data Collector and switch/router with the network cable
provided.
Connect switch/router to the inverters.
8.2.2 PIKO inverter with communication board II
Note: PIKO inverters with communication board II feature an integrated
switch. This allows the Data Collector to be connected directly to the PIKO
inverter with the LAN cable provided.
PV system without switch/router:
Connect Data Collector to RJ45/Ethernet connection of inverter using
the LAN cable.
PV system with switch/router:
Connect Data Collector and switch/router with LAN cable.
