Change of collet (see ill. 2)
Pull out the mains plug before chan-
ging the collet.
To change the collet remove the collet nut 77 comple-
tely from the cutter spindle 1. The collet 76 is pressure-
fitted inside the collet nut. It requires some force and
possibly some pressure sideways to remove the collet
from the collet nut. The new collet must be pressed
firmly into the collet nut until it catches audibly.
The tapered socket of the cutter
spindle and the tapered shaft of the
collet should be properly cleaned
before the collet is mounted. The col-
let nut with the collet should be scre-
wed onto the cutter spindle only
when the collet is in its proper posi-
tion inside the collet nut.

Operation

4.1
Switching on and off (see ill. 1)
Temporary operation
• Switching on: Press switch 22a.
• Switching off: Release switch.
Continuous operation
• Switching on: Press switch 22a first and then
press locking button 22b. The motor runs without
keeping the switch pressed.
• Switching off: Press switch 22a until locking but-
ton 22b trips, then release the switch.
Do not switch on the machine if the
router bit is touching the workpiece.
4.2

Motor protection

Extreme overloading under permanent operation can
cause the motor to overheat. An electronic tempera-
ture monitor is fitted to protect the router against over-
heating (and the motor from burning out). The electro-
nic safety device switches the motor off before the
critical temperature is reached. After a cooling-off time
of approx. 3 to 5 minutes, the machine is ready for
operation again at full capacity. The cooling-off time is
reduced substantially by keeping the machine running
(idling).
4.3
Adjusting cutting speed (see ill. 1)
This router has an electronic speed control. The cut-
ting speed can be adjusted continuously between
10000 and 22000 rpm with the setting wheel 37. The
built-in electronics serves for a jerk-free acceleration
when switching on and controls the speed according
to the values set.
rpm
x 1000
The electronic stage to be selected for a given router
bit diameter and a given type of material is defined in
the following table.
A smooth transition is provided between the various
stages.

Do not operate the LO 50 E when the
electronics is defective as this may
lead to excessive speed. The electro-
nics is defective when there is no
jerk-free start, when there is exces-
sive noise while idling or electronic
speed control is not possible.
4.4
Adjusting cutting depth (see ill. 1)
4.4.1 Locking device
Turning the right handle 61 clockwise locks the
machine in any position desired on its way down or
up; turning the handle counterclockwise unlocks the
machine which will return to the upper position.
4.4.2 Revolving depth control turret
The revolving depth control turret 10 makes it pos-
sible to select three different cutting depths; the lon-
gest of the adjustable stop screws should determine
the shallowest, the shortest the deepest cutting
depth.
