SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

ATTENTION! The battery is sold uncharged.
The battery pack has to be charged before you use
the tool for the first time. The battery pack is completely
closed and maintenance free. Do not dismantle, open or
shred the battery
If the battery cracks or breaks, with or without
liquid loss, do not recharge it or use it. Dispose of it
or replace it with a new battery.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT!
To avoid injury and risk of fire, explosion or electric
shock and to avoid damaging the environment:
– Cover the battery terminals with strong adhesive tape.
– DO NOT attempt to remove or destroy any component
of the battery.
– DO NOT attempt to open the battery.
For optimum battery performance avoid low
1.
discharge cycles. Charge the battery pack frequently.
Store the battery pack in a cool place, ideally at 15°C
2.
and charged to at least 40%.
Lithium-ion batteries are subject to a natural ageing
3.
process. The battery pack must be replaced at the
latest when its capacity falls to just 80% of its capacity
when new. Weakened cells in an aged battery pack
are no longer capable of meeting the high power
requirements and therefore pose a safety risk.
Do not throw battery packs into an open fire. There is
4.
a risk of explosion!
Do not ignite the battery pack or expose it to fire.
5.
DO NOT place the battery in places that are too hot
6.
and do NOT place the battery near sources of heat
(fires, radiators, stoves, etc.).
DO NOT connect the positive and negative terminals of
7.
the battery with metal objects.
Do not exhaustively discharge batteries.
8.
Exhaustive discharge will damage the battery cells.
12
The most common cause of exhaustive discharge
is lengthy storage or non-use of partly discharged
batteries. Suspend work as soon as you notice a
reduction of battery performance or if the protection
circuit trips Place the battery pack in storage only after
it has been fully charged.
Protect batteries and the tool from overloads.
9.
Overloads will quickly result in overheating and cell
damage inside the battery housing without this
overheating actually being apparent externally.
Avoid damage and shocks. Replace batteries which
10.
have been dropped from a height of more than one
meter or which have been exposed to violent shocks
without delay, even if the housing of the battery
pack appears to be undamaged. The battery cells
inside the battery may have suffered serious damage.
In this respect, please also read the waste disposal
information.
If the battery pack suffers overloading and
11.
overheating, the integrated protective cut-off will
switch off the equipment for safety reasons.
Use only original battery packs. The use of other
12.
batteries may result in injuries, explosion and a
fire risk. DO NOT recharge batteries that are not
rechargeable.
Protect the battery from humidity and rain. Moisture
13.
and rain can cause dangerous cell damage. DO NOT
use water for cleaning.
In case of incorrect use, fluid may escape from the
14.
battery. Avoid contact with it. If you touch it by
mistake, rinse the affected area with water. If you
get the fluid in your eyes, also seek medical advice.
Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation or burns.
Only charge the batteries in chargers that are
15.
recommended by the manufacturer. A charger that is
designed for a certain type of batteries may pose a fire
risk if it is used with other types of batteries
When handling batteries beware of electrostatic
16.
charge: Electrostatic discharges can damage the
protection circuit and the battery cells. Avoid
electrostatic charging and never touch the battery
poles.
Avoid children to play with the battery.
17.
Keep battery clean and dry.
18.
Retain this Manual and consult it before using the
19.
battery.
Remove the battery from equipment when not in use
20.
for prolonged time.
Never use or charge batteries if you suspect that
21.
the last time they were charged was more than 12
months previously. There is a high probability that the
battery pack has already suffered dangerous damage
(exhaustive discharge).
Charging batteries at a temperature below 10°C will
22.
cause chemical damage to the cell and may cause
a fire.
