INSTALLING ThE MOSqUITITO™ TRAP: WhEN AND WhERE?
The correct positioning of the Biogents
If you set up the Mosquitito™ trap during the course of the year when the mosquitoes have already heavily mul-
tiplied, it will take a couple of days longer until the noticeable reduction of the mosquito population is reached. A
quicker solution for controlling the situation is to use multiple traps simultaneously.
WHEN: The Correct Time to Operate the Trap
The Biogents
®
Mosquitito™ should be installed when the daytime temperature has risen over 15°C (60°F) for se-
veral days and does not fall below 8°C (46°F). At this time, mosquitoes become active and begin mating. It is best
to catch the mosquitoes now before they have a chance to reproduce and lay their eggs.
The Mosquitito™ must be connected to the mains supply 24 hours a day; otherwise, the mosquitoes will be able
to escape from the trap.
WHERE: The Correct Position
To locate an optimal area to place the Biogents
coming from. Mosquitoes come from the following two directions:
1.
breeding Waters:
toes begin searching for their first prey. Possible breeding waters could be:
• wet habitats and puddles (all that do not contain small fish),
• rain barrels, rain gutters, or other water containers, and
• flower pots, standing flower vases, plant saucers or similar containers.
2.
Resting Places:
dity to prevent dehydration. From here, mosquitoes also begin their search for prey. Mosquitoes do not like
places with intense direct sun exposure or wind.
The Biogents
®
Mosquitito™ trap is meant to be hung roughly one meter off of the ground. The trap needs to be
positioned close to mosquito breeding spots or resting zones and in a location that is windless, shady and roughly
one meter from other objects (e.g. bushes).
Keep the trap out of strong wind. Strong winds not only deter the mosquitoes but can also affect the suction from
the ventilator and allow already caught mosquitoes to escape. The Mosquitito™ trap needs to be fixed into the
ground either from the loop on the bottom of the trap or by securing the power cable into the ground using a tent
peg. During strong winds, the Mosquitito™ trap can be battered around due to its lightweight and cause the power
cable to become unplugged.
Important: Do not place the traps in tall grass or under bushes. All of the upper surfaces of the trap must be clearly
visible to the mosquito, so that its specialized appearance is effective in attracting mosquitoes. A distance of at least
1.5 meters above the top of the trap needs to be kept clear. Any distance lower will hinder the visual signals and air
currents of the trap and consequently reduce the catch rate.

le location for the Biogents

quito resting areas, and the house.
Please position the trap so that no one
can trip over the power cord.
