6. SWEEPING AND MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS : STOVE AND SMOKE FLUE
The mechanical cleaning of the smoke duct is compulsory, and must be performed several times per year,
at least during the heating season. A receipt must be handed to you by the person having performed this
operation.
At the time of duct cleaning, the following operations must be carried out :
- Dismount the deflector :
. dismount the deflector (1) by lifting it and pulling it forwards (Fig. 9),
. tilt the rear of the deflector (Fig. 10) and pull it out (Fig. 11).
Nota : to move up the cowl and the deflector, do in the reverse order to the dismantling (deflector in place
Fig. 9).
- Check thoroughly the state of the appliance and particularly the elements ensuring sealing : locking
joints and devices, supporting parts (door, frame).
- Retighten the fastening screws :
. front plate : 4 locking screws (octagonal spanner)
- Check the condition of the smoke flue and the connecting pipe ; all fittings should be in good
mechanical condition and be smoke-tight.
- Vacuum inside the hood to get rid of any dust and if necessary clear the hot air convection system.
In the event of a fault, have the stove or the installation repaired by a qualified tradesman.
5.4.2.3 Safety rules
- Never try to extinguish the fire with water.
- Be careful of the glass, which gets very hot. Keep children away from it.
- The stove gives out a lot of heat through the glass, so keep heat-sensitive
materials and objects at least 1,50 metres away from it.
- Empty the ash pan into a special metal or otherwise inflammable receptacle used
only for this purpose. Ashes that might appear cold can still be very hot, even if
you think they have had enough time to get cold.
- Do not put easily flammable materials near the appliance or in the wood store
(Fig. 8).
