SAFETY WARNINGS
when blades are moving. Make sure the switch is off
when clearing jammed material. A moment of inattention
while operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious
personal injury.
– Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the cut-
ter blade stopped. When transporting or storing the
hedge trimmer always fit the cutting device guard.
Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce possible
personal injury from the cutter blades.
– Hold the power tool by its insulated gripping sur-
faces only, as the blade may come in contact with hid-
den wiring. Cutter blades contacting a "live" wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and
could give the operator an electric shock.
• How to use the electric hedge trimmer
(battery-operated)
When using the machine, always use caution and take on a
firm and well-balanced position.
– Where possible, avoid working on wet, slippery ground or
in any case on uneven or steep ground that does not guar-
antee stability for the operator.
– Never run, but walk carefully paying attention to the lay of
the land and any eventual obstacles.
– Assess the potential risks of the ground to be mown and
take all necessary precautions to en sure your own safety,
especially on slopes or on bumpy, slippery or unstable
ground.
Do not use the machine if you are unable to hold it with both
hands or keep it steady on your legs while working.
Never allow children or persons unfamiliar with these in-
structions to use the machine. Local regulations can restrict
the age of the user.
The machine must never be used by more than one person.
Never use the machine:
– when people, especially children or pets are in the vicinity;
– if the user is tired or unwell, or has taken medicine, drugs,
alcohol or any substances which may slow his reflexes and
compromise his judgement;
– if the guards are damaged or have been removed.
• Techniques for using the electric hedge trimmer
(battery-operated)
Always observe the safety regulations and use the most suit-
able cutting techniques (see chapter 7 for in structions and ex-
amples).
• Handling the electric hedge trimmer safely
(battery-operated)
Whenever the machine is to be handled or transpor ted you
must:
– turn off the motor, wait for the cutting device to stop and re-
move the accumulator from its compartment;
– only hold the machine using the handgrips and position the
cutting device in the opposite direction to that used during
operation.
When using a vehicle to transport the machine, position it so
that it can cause no danger to persons and fasten it firmly.
• Recommendations for first-time users
Before tackling a job for the first time, it is advisable to gain
the necessary familiarity with the machine and the most suit-
able techniques, finding out how to firmly grip the machine
and perform the movements required by this particular job.
SAFETY WARNINGS
• General warnings
Check that the accumulator is in good working condition and
there are no signs of damage. Never use the machine with a
worn or damaged accumulator.
• How to handle and use battery-operated power
tools properly
a) Make sure that the tool is switched off before in-
serting the battery. Inserting a battery in a power tool
which is switched on can cause accidents
b) When charging batteries, only use battery chargers
recommended by the Manufacturer. Battery chargers
are generally designed for use with specific types of bat-
teries; fire risks can occur if other types are used.
c) Use the batteries specifically designed for your
power tool only. The use of other batteries may be haz-
ardous and cause injuries and fire risks.
d) Place all unused batteries at a distance from paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal
objects as contact with the same can cause short cir-
cuits. Short circuits among battery contacts can lead to
explosion or fires.
e) Liquid can leak from batteries when they are in bad
condition. Avoid all contact with this liquid. Rinse
thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. If
the liquid comes into contact with the eyes, call a
doctor immediately. Liquid leaks from batteries can
cause skin irritation and even burns.
USER INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCUMULATORS
• General precautions
– The accumulator must never be opened.
– Never throw used batteries into a fire - EXPLO SION RISK!
– Connect the battery charger to power sockets carrying the
voltage indicated on the manufacturer's rating plate.
– Use original accumulators only.
– The accumulator may heat up when used for a certain
length of time. Allow it to cool down before recharging it.
– Never leave the accumulator or battery charger within the
reach of children.
– Never use the battery charger in zones where flammable
vapours or substances are present.
– Recharge accumulators at a temperature of between 10°
and 40 °C only.
– Never store accumulators in environments with tempera-
tures of over 40 °C.
– Never cause short circuits between the accumulator con-
tacts and never connect them to metal objects.
– When transporting accumulators, make sure the contacts
never come into contact with each other and never use or
pack them in metal containers.
– Short circuit of the accumulator can cause an explosion. In
any case, short circuits will cause severe damage to the ac-
cumulator.
– Check the battery charger cable is not damaged on a reg-
ular basis. If the cable gets damaged, the whole battery
charger must be replaced.
– Recharge the accumulators completely before storing them
away in winter.
– The accumulator can only be charged by charger comply
with EN60335-2-29.
