GENERAL SAFETY
1. Do not use in a dangerous environment such as a damp or wet location. Keep away from rain. Work in a well lit area.
2. Do not use electrical tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gases.
3. Keep your working area clean. Cluttered areas and work sites cause accidents.
4. Keep children away.
5. Wear proper apparel. Do not wear loose clothing, neckties, rings, bracelets, or other jewelry that may get caught in moving parts. Non-slippery footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair covering to protect
long hair.
6. Only use the original accessories. The use of improper accessories may cause injury to you or may damage the equipment.
7. Never leave your equipment unattended when it is still operating.
8. Keep the equipment clean and in good operating condition for safe and efficient performance. To avoid fire or a toxic reaction, never use gasoline, naphtha, acetone, lacquer, thinner, or similar highly volatile
solvents to clean your equipment.
9. Before using the equipment, carefully check to ensure it operates properly and performs as it should. Damaged parts should be repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
10. Do not operate the equipment if you are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication that could impair your ability to use the equipment safely.
11. Always wear eye protection.
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS & SAFETY
There is a risk of explosive gases being released when batteries are charged or discharged. Disobeying these instructions may cause property damage, explosive hazard and/or serious personal injuries. When not
in use, always store battery clamps in built-in holsters. Never attach battery clamps together or against another metal conductor. This could cause damage to the unit and/or create a spark or an explosive hazard.
1. When working on or around lead-acid batteries and electrical connections always wear safety goggles that are ANSI approved. The battery can spill acid or cause electrical sparks which can cause blindness or
severe burns.
2. Avoid contact with battery acid. If battery acid is splashed on your skin, immediately wash the affected areas with clean water. Continue washing the affected areas until medical assistance arrives. If battery acid
comes into your eyes, immediately flush your eyes with clean water for 15 minutes. Seek medical care right away.
3. Connect electrical battery cables to the correct polarities on the battery to be jumpstarted. Always turn off the disabled vehicle's ignition before making any cable connection. First connect the red positive (+)
cable to the positive battery terminal. Second, connect the black negative (-) cable to a secure metal ground on the disabled vehicle.
4. Do not allow the black and the red clamps to come in contact with each other. If this happens, it can cause the clamps to melt or other metal objects to melt and spark. Securely place the clamps on the correct
battery terminals.
5. Use only 12V electrical automotive or marine systems. Do not use this equipment with a 6V electrical system.
6. For emergency use only. Do not use this equipment instead of a vehicle of marine battery.
7. Avoid electrical shocks. Use extreme caution when using the electrical clamps near not insulated conductors. Prevent contact with grounded surfaces and items such as pipes, radiators, ranges and cabinet
enclosures.
8. Avoid damaging the jumpstart system. Use the equipment only as specified in this manual.
9. Keep children at a safe distance from the work area. Children must never be allowed in the working area or be permitted to use this equipment.
10. Store idle equipment. When not in use, this equipment should be stored in a dry, safe location. It should be kept in a locked place, safely away from children.
11. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance. Do not reach across electrical cables or frames.
12. Maintain tools with care. Inspect tool cords and cables regularly. If damaged, have them repaired of replaced by an authorized technician.
13. Check for damaged parts. Before using this equipment, any parts that appear to be damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function.
CARTON CONTENTS: If any part is missing or damaged, do not use this equipment until the missing or damaged part is replaced.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
The electrical components of this equipment are not user serviceable. Repair should always be performed by a qualified electrical repair technician. Keep the equipment free from dirt and grease. Store the equipment
in a dry place.
The battery will need periodic recharging, and eventual replacement after it has exceeded its recharge life (approx. 800 to 1000 recharge cycles). You will notice extended charging times or shorter operation time
as the battery nears the end of its life. The battery must be recycled or be disposed of properly.
OPERATION
The battery in your jumpstarter possibly needs to be charged after you receive it. It can be charged in two ways: 1) Use the AC adapter or 2) use the cigarette plug adapter in a running vehicle's cigarette lighter
socket to recharge using the car's battery power. If the battery of the jumpstarter is not fully charged, you will need to give it a full charge of at least 48 hours before initial use. It is necessary to recharge the unit
every time after it is used.
CHECK BATTERY STATUS
Press and hold the battery status button. The battery level indicator LEDs will illuminate to indicate the amount of charge remaining in the jumpstarter. When you release the button, the LED indicator lights will go out.
When the jumpstarter is fully charged, all three indicator lights will illuminate.
When the jumpstarter is at least 50% charged, only the first two (amber and red) indicator lights will illuminate.
When only the red indicator light is illuminated, you must recharge the jumpstarter as soon as possible.
RECHARGE USING AC/DC ADAPTER
1. Plug the appropriate end of the AC/DC adapter into the charging port on the front end of the jumpstarter.
2. Plug the other end into any standard AC wall outlet. The red charging LED indicator will illuminate to show that the unit is charging. Full charging will take approx. 18-20 hours.
RECHARGE USING 12V DC ADAPTER
1. Plug one end of the DC power cord into the charging port on the front of the jumpstarter.
2. Plug the other end into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket or 12V power port.
3. The red charging LED indicator will illuminate to show that the unit is charging. Full charging will take approx. 5-8 hours.
4. The jumpstarter will only load when the engine is running. The red charging light will not light with alternating voltage DC-DC, but the jumpstarter will be charged. The red charging light will light with alternating
voltage AC-DC. It is better to load with 230V AC instead of 12V DC. The charging voltage must be higher than the battery voltage.
NOTE: Some vehicle's cigarette lighter sockets and 12V power ports do not operate unless the ignition switch is in the accessory position.
WARNING: Do not charge the jumpstarter for more than 36 hours continuously. Use only the power cords that were provided with the jumpstarter, when charging. Otherwise the
jumpstarter may be damaged.
JUMPSTARTING OR CHARGING A 12V BATTERY
If your vehicle's battery is too weak to start your car, you can use the jumpstarter to start it. Make sure that the vehicle's accessories are turned off (lights,sAC, heater, radio, etc.).
