FUNCTION
Carries identification data for the machine
Pulled to deliver spark and start the engine
Point where the harness is attached to the machine
Handgrip incorporating throttle trigger and lockout switch
Point where the harness is attached to the handle
Protects the operator from burns
Allows visual check on oil level
Removed to allow top-up of oil in the gear case
Main lockout switch used to select engine start or shut-off
Indicates the filter servicing interval
Accelerates/decelerates the engine
Protects the operator from the movement of the machine
Contains the fuel needed to run the engine
Removed to allow refuelling. Replaced and tightened to prevent
escape of fuel
Used to hold the machine in position
Facilitates handling of the machine
Supports the machine when set down
Protects the operator from the movement of the rod when coupled
Prevents lube oil from escaping
Locks the extension rod
Transmits shaking action to the branch
Used to manoeuvre the extension rod
Connects the hook to the machine at the required distance
These carry the rollers which protect the branches
Used to secure the hook to the rod
Designed to protect the bark when the branch is shaken
Traps impurities in the flow of air cooling the engine
The silencer from which exhaust gases are emitted
Engine starting aid, pressed repeatedly to prime the carburettor
Used to adjust the engine idle speed
Used to facilitate starting when the engine is cold
Figure illustrates maintenance
Used to adjust the length of the harness straps
Takes the weight of the machine
Traps impurities in the fuel
Provides engine ignition
Gap determines correct operation of the plug
Operator must wear the items of clothing illustrated
Figure shows the positioning of the machine when held by the operator
Figure shows how the rod is twisted by the operator to engage the
branch
Figure shows how to clean the cooling fins of the engine cylinder
