Operating instructions for Heatermax Compact 10 / 20 Swimming Pool Heat Pumps
• If the mains cable should be damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrician. Until then, the heat pump must be taken out of operation in order to prevent damage.
• Switch off the power supply before you break current connections. Before you work on the pump, you must make sure that the power supply is switched off.
• The device may not be installed near a heat source, inflammable material or the ventilation duct of an adjacent building.
• The device is suitable for warming water in the operating range from min. 15°C to max. 35°C.
• During the installation, repair and maintenance work, it is strictly prohibited to step on pipes and hoses, since they could be damaged and the coolant leaking out can cause serious burn injuries.
• A filling of the device with the R32 coolant may be implemented only by an authorised specialist company.
• In case of service work on the device, the composition and the status of the heat-transfer liquid must be tested. In addition, it must be ensured that, in case of welding and soldering work on the piping, no
coolant is present in the heat pump.
• During the annual sealing test, which is implemented in accordance with the applicable legislation, the high-pressure and low-pressure switches must be tested in order to ensure that they are securely fixed on
the cooling circuit and interrupt the electrical circuit when they are activated.
• Before you begin with any work on the cooling circuit, please wait several minutes before you remove the temperature or pressure sensors. Certain component parts and lines can reach temperatures of over
100°C and build up high pressures, which can lead to serious burn injuries.
• This device includes component parts which are under pressure. Use only original spare parts and the R32 coolant, as indicated in the parts list of these directions for use and the rating plate.
• Never use oxygen or dry air for the pressure test or in any search for leakage, since this introduces a fire or explosion hazard. Use nitrogen or the coolant indicated on the rating plate. The test pressure of the high-
pressure, as well as the low-pressure circuit, may not exceed 42 bar.
• This device can be used by children above 8 years, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been instructed in the safe use of
the device and understand the hazards involved. Children may not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be implemented by children without supervision.
• Keep small parts and packaging material away from children. Danger of suffocation exists!
Utilisation
• The Heatermax Compact swimming pool heat pump is planned for operation in combination with a pool pump and a filter, in order to warm up water in a swimming pool.
• The following values for the water condition in the swimming pool must be adhered to:
- pH value
- Free chlorine:
- Brom:
- Stabiliser (if used):
- Dissolved metals (iron, magnesium, copper, zinc ...):
• The Heatermax Schwimmbecken heat pump is planned for private use only.
Operational start-up
Attention! Do not lift the device on the outer casing. Use the base in order to lift and move the device.
Caution! This heat pump must be installed by a qualified specialist company. The installer is responsible for the device being installed correctly and the local regulations being adhered to. An
incorrect installation of the device can have as consequence damage to the device and serious (possibly fatal) injuries.
Selection of the installation location
The heat pump can be installed at virtually any location in the open air, as long as the indicated minimum separation
distances to other objects are adhered to (see drawing below). Ideally the heat pump should be installed with a separation
distance of less than 7.5 m to the swimming pool. The greater the separation distance, the larger the heat loss in the water
pipe from the heat pump to the swimming pool.
Installation of the device
• Place the device on a stable, solid, flat (concrete) underground.
• Ensure the device is not flooded by its own condensate water.
ATTENTION: Never install the heat pump in a closed room with limited air volume, in which the air discharged from the device is reused. Without a continuous fresh air supply, efficiency decreases and sufficient heat
emission is prevented.
Hydraulic connections
• The Heatermax Compact swimming pool heat pump can usually be operated without a bypass. Install a bypass when the water flow of the swimming pool pump is more than 20% greater than the admissible
flow through the heat exchanger of the heat pump.
• Use a 38 mm or 32 mm PVC pool hose for the connections.
• Secure the individual hose connections with a matching hose clamp.
• When automatic dosing systems (chlorine, salt, etc.) are to be used, it is important to protect the heat pump against corrosion resulting from too high chemical concentrations. For this reason, such equipment
must always be installed after the heat pump. It is recommended to install a non-return valve in order to prevent a return flow in case of lack of water circulation.
Remark: The delivery includes the heat pump exclusively. .
Electrical connections
Attention!
According to harmonised European directives and safety standards, the installation of the mains cable must
be implemented by an authorised and qualified electrician.
• The power supply must correspond to the product specifications. Do not connect the heat pump if the power
supply does not correspond to the applicable regulations!
• The power supply must be implemented over a residual-current device (Fi/RCD) with a rated leakage current
of < 30 mA (pumps of Class 1).
• If the mains cable and/or the power plug should be damaged, they must be replaced by a qualified electrician.
The hazard of electric shock exists in the interior of the device! The cables may be connected in
the interior of the device by a qualified and authorised electrician only.
