Safety Requirements
- This section contains the requirements to be met to use the SCSE in a two encoder safety system.
- The SINUMERIK 2-encoder-safety-requirements must be met.
Additionally, all the following requirements must be met:
General requirements
- The encoder must be mounted, commissioned, tested, repaired and used by properly qualified personnel and following the local security regulations.
- The encoder installation manual instructions must be strictly followed. Special care must be taken to meet the fastening torque requirements and the
requirements of the machine surface where the encoder is fixed, as they provide the basis for fault exclusion of attachment of the encoder to the machine.
- The operating conditions must be met. The dynamic integrity of the brackets is only guaranteed up to the maximum working speed specified for each
encoder in the corresponding manual.
Machine surfaces for profile and reader-head mounting requirements
- The support where the profile and the reader-head is mounted must meet the requirements that guarantee the fault exclusion of the mounting regarding the
support:
- The mounting surface must be free of oil or paint.
- The mounting surface must be machined.
- The mounting surface parallelism requirement must be met.
Profile screws, reader-head screws torque requirement
- The fastening torque specified in the manual must be respected.
Reader-head screw nut requirement
- The reader-head screw nut (if used) must be of the dimensions and material specified in the corresponding encoder (GAD/SAD/LAD) manual.
Reader-head connector direction change requirement
- For the models with this possibility (GAD/LAD), the reader-head connector direction change procedure must be followed.
