FAQ's:
· What does it mean when stainless steel is
304 (18/8)?
There are several types and qualities of steel.
304 is the highest quality steel, which is norma-
lly used in these types of products. 18/8 repre-
sents its chemical composition, containing 18%
chrome and 8% nickel. This composition makes
it highly resistant.
· Do all insulated containers maintain tem-
perature equally?
No. The type of material (plastic, stainless steel
...), the type of closing mechanism (sealed, air-
tight...), size of the recipient and thickness of its
walls, amongst others, are characteristics to be
taken into account when choosing a thermos.
Thermoses with increased thermal capacity are
those with a double inner wall made of stainless
steel and with a vacuum chamber and hermetic
closing system.
· How do you choose the ideal insulated con-
tainer?
Choose the thermal capacity that best meets
your needs. This will depend on whether it's
for children or adults, for long or short trips, for
normal or extreme temperatures, for carrying
liquids semi-solids or solids, etc.
· How to obtain a higher thermal performan-
ce?
Apart from the characteristics of the insulated
container, we also have to take into conside-
ration the type of food products that we want
to place inside the thermos: semi-solid, such as
baby food and formulas maintain their tempera-
ture much better than solid food products, such
as meat, omelet, pasta... Likewise factors such as
the food cooking temperature, sauces, amount
of food or the room temperature can all make
the temperature of the food vary more quickly.
It's very important to fill the insulated container
to 80%, i.e. use its full capacity, since the fuller
it is, the longer it will maintain its temperature.
• To keep food cold: first cool the container by
filling it with cold water (between 2º and 10 ºC)
for two minutes (do not put ice cubes in it).
• To keep food hot: pre-heat the container by fi-
lling it with very hot water (not boiling) for two
minutes.
· A series of black spots have appeared on my
thermos. Are they toxic?
Some components in food, such as salt, iron,
sugar, etc. could give rise to the appearance of
spots on the steel. These spots are completely
harmless. If this happens, fill the thermos with a
solution of warm water and 10% vinegar, let it
rest during 30 minutes and then rinse it out with
abundant water.
· What is the ideal temperature for a liquid
to keep its temperature in an insulated
container?
The temperature range for the liquid is between
2º C and 96º C. However, if it is to be kept hot,
the closer it is to 96º C the better, and if it is to
be kept cold, the closer it is to 2º C, the better.
· How can I best look after my Termaline
products?
After use, always leave it open, to prevent smells
Make sure you clean it regularly, avoiding lea-
ving any residue and do not use it for carbona-
ted drinks.
