Be sure to read, understand, and
comply with all warnings listed in
this manual before proceeding.
Familiarize yourself with the components and
controls on this Plasma Cutter. See Figure 1.
Inspect torch for proper assembly of Electrode, Diffuser Ring,
Torch Tip, and Air Nozzle. Make sure there are no cracks or
obstructed holes. Do not proceed if there is any visible sign of
damage! Replace damaged or worn parts.
For best results, setup the plasma cutter in a clean and dry
environment. Always avoid areas with grinding dust. The
cooling fan draws significant air through the machine and
metallic dust particles may damage electronics.
Setup the plasma cutter in an area with at least 8 inches
(20.32 cm) of ventilation space at the front, rear, and both
sides of the unit. Keep all obstructions out of this ventilation
space; unrestricted air flow is important to cool the machine.
Position plasma cutter close to the workpiece. Make sure the
torch will reach the entire length of the cutting zone without
creating tension in the cable. Make sure the work clamp can
reach the workpiece near the cutting zone.
Attach the work clamp to the workpiece as near to the cutting
zone as possible. Make sure to connect the work clamp
to bare metal. It is important to have good metal to metal
connection between workpiece and the work clamp.
Flip power switch to the off position. Connect the plasma
cutter's power cord to a dedicated and properly grounded 120
volt receptacle with a 20 amp (recommended) circuit breaker.
Make sure the plasma cutter is the only electrical device on
the circuit. (See page 5 about use with a portable generator.)
