Intended Use:

Impact Wrenches are intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The EC Declaration of Conformity in this manual states that these Impact Wrench models
are in compliance with European Community Directive 2014/34/EU for equipment
intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, commonly referred to as the ATEX
Directive.
These Impact Wrenches conform to and are marked for use as defined by ATEX
designations:
These ATEX designations define the applications, the type and duration of the potentially
explosive atmospheres, the type of protection and the maximum surface temperature.
The X indicates that additional Specific conditions are required for safe application, operation
and/or maintenance of these tools when used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
All Specific Conditions must be followed for this product to conform to the ATEX Directive
and for the ATEX Declaration of Conformity to be valid.
Specific Conditions for Safe Application, Operation and Maintenance
Non-compliance with any of these Specific Conditions could result in ignition of explosive
atmospheres.
• It is the responsibility of the user to ensure all accessories, hose connections, fittings etc. are
in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations (local, state, country, federal, etc.),
including those associated with potentially explosive atmospheres.
• Use of the tool shall be limited to trained personnel.
• Impact wrenches shall not be used when an explosive atmosphere is present.
• If an explosive atmosphere is detected, immediately stop the tool and place it in a stable and
secure location.
• A Work Permit System should be used that ensures that explosive atmospheres are not
present in the work zone during impact wrench use.
• Never use an impact wrench when there is any possibility that a gas in Group B and Group C
(acetylene, carbon disulfide, and hydrogen, as defined in EN 80079-36), or hydrogen sulfide,
ethylene oxide or carbon monoxide, may be present. These gases cause a high probability of
explosion.
• Do not drop or drag the tool or otherwise allow tool body or socket to strike against
surrounding objects that may cause a spark when a potentially explosive atmosphere is
present.
