Do not glue any parts until the entire assembly, including primary pump,
has been dry-assembled to verify fits. Fitting plumbing and getting
wiring away from control floats will be much easier on a bench rather
than working down inside a sump pit. (Fig. 4 and Fig. 6)
See Fig. 1 for following steps:
1. Install coupling on pump discharge.
2. Cut and glue 1-1/2" DWV pipe and glue into hub on street ell, leaving
1" past hub
3. Install street ell with pipe into coupling.
4. Attach check valve. Be certain that arrows on check valve are
pointing up. Adjust discharge on primary pump until the top of both
check valves are even (Fig. 2). Dry fit everything before gluing.
The pipe fitting that goes into primary pump and short piece of
pipe needed must be purchased by customer separately to fit the
primary pump that is used.
Assemble "WYE" to attach to the check valves (Fig. 1). All parts in the
WYE must be purchased by the customer, as well as the check valve on
the primary pump discharge.
Once all fittings have been assembled without glue and verified to be
the correct length then glue all pieces together and re-assemble as
indicated above. Be sure to tighten all screw clamps before placing
complete assembly into 18" diameter by 24" deep basin. Cable tie cords
and wiring to piping to prevent these from causing problems with the
operation of the control floats.
CONTROL UNIT/JUNCTION BOX INSTALLATION
Place control unit 3'-4' above the sump. Locate the battery as far away
from the control unit as the wires will permit. Never place the control
unit directly above the battery. Gases from the battery will corrode and
damage control unit.
Connect red (+) lead from control unit to positive (+) battery terminal
and black (–) lead to negative (–) battery terminal. When properly
connected, the yellow charging light will be lit.
Connect black lead from pump to negative (–) battery terminal.
Connect the white lead from vertical float switch to positive (+)
battery terminal.
Connect black lead from vertical float switch, brown lead from pump,
and blue lead from control unit together using the wire nut provided
with this kit.
