1.12 WARNING SIGN:
The sign provided must be installed in a visible location in the area where the ladder is accessed.
This sign is mandatory. The various fields must be filled in.
An identification number allows you to identify your different installations so that you can monitor them.
The data plate must be filled in by the installer and the competent person during periodic inspections using an indelible marker.
1.13 USE:
The system is ready to be used; if the methodology described above has been followed, the installation does not require any additional operations.
However, the device must be checked after installation; the person in charge of the installation must fill the questionnaire below:
(if there are check marks in the NOT OK column, the device must not be used until it has been brought into compliance)
The system has top and bottom spring loaded retractable terminations that prevent the rope grab from accidentally slipping off the rail
The installation is complete, with top, bottom and intermediary mounting brackets, anchor line (energy absorber and tensioner if necessary)
All the mounting brackets (top, bottom or intermediary) are installed on the structure according to the recommendations given in this guide
AND using the fastenings provided by the manufacturer
For the rail installations (only): the junctions are present for each section change AND are properly fixed
The intermediary mounting brackets are set at the given intervals
All the nuts are properly installed AND include an anti-release system (Nylock nut OR nut with Grower washer – or equivalent OR nut
locknut)
The rope grab/trolley slides freely on the anchorage line without sticking
The system has a warning sign
The system is perfectly aligned vertically, from the top to the bottom
The system shows no inclination exceeding ±1°
This installation guide and the PPE User Instruction Manual for the fall arrest system have been given to the operator
OBSERVATIONS:
Acceptance – Tests: Systems installed as described do not require testing. KRATOS SAFETY certifies that the top points (EN 795:2012 Type A) and the fall
prevention systems (EN 353-1/2) comply with the European standards in force. Any testing or intervention by a third party when acceptance testing the products cannot
be charged to KRATOS SAFETY.
2 - SUITABILITY FOR USE:
This type of vertical anchorage system must be used with the corresponding sliding fall arrester; see related user manual (EN353-1/2).
A sliding fall arrester on an anchorage line (flexible or rigid) must be incorporated into a system as described in the product's fact sheet (EN363).
A fall arrest harness (EN361) is the only body support device that may be used. Creating one's own fall protection system can be dangerous as each safety function can
interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is important to read the recommendations on using each component in the system before use.
3 - LIMITS OF INSTALLATION:
Mobile fall arresters should not be installed with a rigid stainless steel anchor in a highly corrosive atmosphere (for example, above a pool) due to the risk of invisible
stress corrosion cracking, unless specific control measures are implemented or if compatibility is established.
Be aware of installation limits for rigid anchor lines, for example, an aggressive atmosphere.
4 - CHECKS:
The recommended service life of the equipment is 10 years (in accordance with the annual examination by a competent person authorised by KRATOS SAFETY), but
it may be increased or reduced according to use and/or the results of the annual inspections. Environmental factors can significantly impact product life, in particular
harsh environments such as marine environments, corrosive environments, chemical environments, etc. In accordance with the regulations in force, the equipment
should be inspected if there is any uncertainty or after a fall and at least annually, by the manufacturer or a competent person authorised by the manufacturer to check
its strength and therefore the user's safety. In aggressive environments, checks must be carried out more frequently. When carrying out pre-use checks, annual
inspections or maintenance, a different anchorage device that is fit for purpose must be used.
We also recommend that the date of the next inspection is marked on the product.
The table below lists the inspection control points. The results of the periodic inspection will be recorded in the ENTECH01 inspection report (downloadable from our
website) and in the company safety register. We recommend that routine inspections are documented using an inspection report and photographs.
If any of the system elements fail inspection, the system must be taken Out of Service until a competent person has certified in writing that it can be reused, or until it
has been replaced. In the intervening period, access to the system must be prohibited.
