The Pole Hoist System is designed for use by one person with a combined weight (person, clothing, tools, etc.) of no more
than 140 kg (310 lbs ).

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Figure 1 illustrates the 3M™ DBI-SALA™ Pole Hoist System. The Pole Hoist System uses a carabiner to attach the system's
universal bracket to a suitable anchor point. The system allows a single user to work in any direction from any angle. The system
universal swivel head rotates 360 degrees, providing flexibility for both vertical and horizontal confined space entries.
Capacity:
One user with a combined weight (person, clothing, tools, etc.) of no more than 140 kg (310 lbs ).
Anchorage:
Fall Arrest: The structure to which the Pole Hoist System is attached must sustain static loads applied
in the directions permitted by the Fall Arrest System of at least: 16 kN (3,600 lbs) with certification of
a Qualified Person
System (PFAS) is attached to an anchorage, these static loads must be multiplied by the number of
PFAS attached to the anchorage.
Restraint: The structure to which the Pole Hoist System is attached must sustain static loads applied
in the directions permitted by the Restraint System of at least 3,000 lbs (13 kN). When more than one
Restraint System is attached to an anchorage, the static load must be multiplied by the number of
Restraint Systems attached to the anchorage.
Dimensions:
See Figure 1 for the dimensions of each Pole Hoist System model.
Product Weight: Pole Hoist System Model 8560409: 5.4 kg (12 lbs). Model 8560476: 7.7 kg (17 lbs).
Model 8561235: 3.4 kg (7.5 lbs).

Installation of the DBI-SALA Pole Hoist System must be supervised by a Qualified Person
certified by a Competent Person
the potential forces that could be encountered during a fall.
;
Installers shall ensure the suitability of base materials into which structural anchor devices are fixed.
;
Where an anchor device is intended to be used exclusively for personal protective equipment, it should be clearly
marked by pictogram, or other clearly seen and understood marking, on or near the anchor device, clearly stating that
the devise is designed exclusively for use of personal protective equipment. Anchor devices are only to be used with CE
Marked fall arrest systems, which will generate forces in excess of 6kN at the anchor device.
1.1
SETTING UP THE POLE HOIST
1.
(Figure 2) Remove all parts from strorage/transport bags containers etc. and layout on ground. Remove Pin (1) from
T-bar leg assembly (2).
2.
(Figure 3) Rotate leg as shown and replace pin (1). Remove Pin (3) from T-bar leg assembly and rotate foot assembly
as shown. Replace pin (3). Remove Pin (4) to adjust T-bar leg assembly to a comfortable height for winch operation.
1.2
WINCH & CABLE ROUTING INSTALLATION
1.
(Figure 4) Install winch by sliding the winch mounting plate (1) onto the Pole Hoist winch bracket (2). The notch in
the winch mounting plate (3) must engage the pin (4) on the Pole Hoist winch bracket.
2.
Pay out 1.5 m to 3 m (5 ft to 10 ft) of cable from winch, maintaining at least 5 kg (10 lb) of tension on cable at all
times. (Refer to the winch manual.)
3.
(Figure 5) Remove cable roller pin (1) and guide pulley (2) from pole hoist mast assembly (3). Place cable under
guide pulley and replace guide pulley & cable roller pin.
4.
(Figure 5) Rotate pole hoist head assembly (4) so that slots through head align. Place cable through slot in head
assembly and over pulley and around cable retainer spring (5). (See Figure 5a for cable path through head assembly.)
1.3
POLE HOIST INSTALLATION TO RATED ANCHOR POINT
1.
(Figure 6) Using hanger bracket (1) on top pulley assembly (2), hang pole hoist using certified anchorage point (3)
and certified hardware.
2.
(Figure 6) Make sure the T-bar leg (4) assembly is as vertical as possible to support the weight of winch while in use.
1.4
INSTALLATION OF WINCHES, SELF-RETRACTING LIFELINES ( SRL'S), WORK POSITIONING AND FALL-ARREST
DEVICES NOT MANUFACTURED BY 3M FALL PROTECTION.
Your Pole-Hoist system can be used as a support structure for various types of safety devices. Any accessories being
used for the hoist MUST BE installed, inspected, maintained and operated according to the manufactures' instructions. All
