Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. When forwarding this unit to third parties, this information for use is also to
be handed over.
Congratulations!
Congratulations for buying the pond UVC-55X, which is designed for use
at Koi ponds, ponds and also larger freshwater aquarium systems.
The unit has been designed according to newest findings and makes
optimal use of the UV-C radiation being formed. The core is a modern
amalgam lamp with improved radiation performance and increased lifespan.
The sera pond UVC-55X is equipped with a particularly powerful amalgam
lamp which not only provides approximately 50% higher radiation emission
compared to normal UV-C lamps with the same power requirement, but at
the same time has a considerably improved lifespan (up to 42%). The highly
resistant stainless steel body not only prevents UV-C corrosion but ensures
reflection of the UV-C radiation, which enhances UV-C light utilization
by up to another 35%. The hose connectors can be rotated around the
longitudinal axis of the device and provide tension free adjustment and
connection possibilities for the pond or aquarium water intake and outlet
hoses.

General function description

The UV-C light invisible for us is a component of sunlight. However,
the atmosphere of the Earth absorbs the particularly short waved UV-C
radiation in great heights and lets only the in comparison longer waved
UV-B or UV-A light pass to the surface of the Earth. The UV-C light invisible
for humans is a component of sunlight and is already absorbed in great
heights by ozone layer in the atmosphere of the Earth. Only longer waved
UV-B or UV-A light passes to the layers close to the surface.
On Earth, UV-C can only be generated artificially by special lamps. The
generated radiation now passes through the pond or aquarium water to be
cleaned inside the pond UVC-55X. The pathogens and parasites contained
in the water, which pass by the quartz glass tube along with the water,
are hit by the radiation.
Range: Pond water up to 15,000 liters, aquarium water up to 5,000 liters
(exclusively fresh water)
Warning!
1. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance. Operation by children under 12 years is not
permitted. The appliance can be used by children above 12 years
as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capacities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
and have understood the dangers arising thereof. Children must
not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must
not be carried out by children unless they are under supervision.
Keep the appliance and its cables out of the reach of children.
2. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
3. The pond UVC-55X System must not be immersed in water. The
mains cord must not be dug outdoors.
4. The appliance contains glass parts that can easily break. Please
handle with care.
5. The installation location must be protected against possibly
entering water.
6. Unplug or switch off all appliances in the aquarium or pond before
carrying out maintenance.
7. Ensure that the product is plugged off from the supply mains before
moving or cleaning the product.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. WARNING: Dangerous ultraviolet radiation! The UV-C radiation
harms eyes and skin already after a few seconds.
a. To prevent eye damage, never look directly into the UV-C lamp
without protection when it is operating (eye damage!) The UV-C
lamp provides a protective switch-off against looking into it
accidentally. The protective mechanisms must not be deactivated.
b. Use only original sera amalgam replacement lamps for the UV-C
unit.
c. In case of accidentally looking into the UV light due to faulty
protection circuit immediately look away and pull the mains plug.
2. Make sure that voltage and frequency of the mains supply matches
the data on the type plate before connecting the appliance to the
mains supply.
3. Position the pond UVC-55X System above the water surface. The
appliance is rainproof when installed correctly. However, it must not
be submerged or fall into the water. Placing it more than 1.5 m below
the water surface level is not permitted.
4. Usage is permitted only in a frost free location. Do not submit the
appliance to a frost risk. Ice can make the plastic and glass parts burst.
5. Check plug and socket for water being present before putting into
operation. Never touch the plug or the socket before switching off the
circuit in case of a wet plug or a wet socket. Protect the power plug
against moisture and dripping water.
6. Never pull the power plug out of the socket by the cable.
7. Never operate without or without sufficient water flow.
8. Especially in case of installation with an aquarium: Before working in
the aquarium (water) or at the pond UVC-55X, disconnect this and all
other electrical appliances from the mains supply.
9. The appliance may only be operated completely assembled.
10. Operation is permitted only for the described application purpose. Do
not use any medium other than pond or aquarium water.
11. The water temperature must not exceed 35°C.
12. Damage of the cable or the plug must not be repaired! In this case the
appliance must immediately be disconnected from mains supply, and
must not be operated any more. This also applies in case of intended
alterations of these parts. This kind of damage must not be repaired
or mended. In case of damage or leakage at the case, at the seals, or
in the parts that contain water, the appliance must immediately been
taken apart and repaired by qualified personnel.
13. The circuit to which the system is connected must be protected with
a fault current protection switch (RCD 30 mA).
14. Always carry the appliance by supporting the bottom. Never lift it by
its external parts or its hose connections.
15. Place the pond UVC-55X above a suitable plastic bowl indoors,
especially if a valuably wooden floor is laid on the setup location.
Lead a loop of the hoses into the bowl (drip loop). This prevents
damages by dripping water.
16. The foot of the appliance must only be opened for maintenance
purposes by qualified personnel!
17. Do not lift nor carry electric devices by their mains cord.
18. Keep the information for use and hand it over to a new owner together
with the appliance, if applicable.
