Torticollis (recent and acute back of the
neck muscle pains)
A s a consequence of various circumstances,
such as, for example, a rather sudden
movement of the neck, an incorrect sleeping
position or exposure to a cold environment,
a sharp pain may be felt in the back of the
neck often accompanied by a considerable
reduction of the mobility of the cervical
region. A person affected by this problem
has contracted muscles in the back of the
neck and feels a sharp pain there. Together
these symptoms represent what is known
as "torticollis", which is mainly the result
of a sharp and intense contracture of the
muscles in the back of the neck.
I n this kind of situation, it is always neces-
sary to consult a doctor in order to receive
appropriate treatment.
