9. Malfunctions during operation of the
CORREX
Malfunctions in operation of the impressed-current anode system CORREX
MP 1.9-900 are normally indicated by a red LED in the potentiostat housing.
Note: Many faults can be located and rectified directly on the system by mea-
suring DC voltage and current, polarity, insulation and resistance. The neces-
sary measuring techniques are described in chapter 9.2. Disconnect any
installed electrical tubular heating elements from the mains supply. The chek-
ks described may only be performed by an electrical fitter or by qualified
after-sales service personnel.
The text below describes fault messages, possible fault causes and the corre-
sponding remedial action.
9.1 Fault messages, possible causes and measures to be taken as
remedial action
Fault message: pilot lamps off
Possible cause: absence of mains voltage.
Remedial action: ensure continued supply of mains voltage.
Fault message: pilot lamp red
Reset the potentiostat by separating the device for about 30 seconds from the
mains supply in order to create well-defined starting conditions. Reconnect
the mains supply.
If the LED is still red thereafter, check the following possible fault
causes and perform the measures required as remedial action.
1. The hot-water tank is not filled with water.
Inspection: Check that the hot-water tank is filled completely with water.
Remedial action: if necessary, fill the hot-water tank completely with water.
2. The electrical contact between plug-in potentiostat and anode / tank
connection by means of the connecting cable is not ensured.
Inspection: Check all connections and contacts for perfect electrical continuity.
Remedial action: establish the electrical contact and install a new
connecting cable, if needed.
