self with the proper handling of this equipment. Be sure to

Proper use of the device

This product has been developed to allow books
bound using the impressBIND 280 book-binding
machine from Leitz to be re-opened. Please ensure
that it is used for this purpose only, and that it is
used as described in this user guide.
General precautions

Please consult the user guide for the
impressBIND 280, and in particular the safety infor-
mation included in the user guide.
•
Keep children away from the machine – danger of
injury.
•
Do not use accessories or parts that are not
approved by the manufacturer.
•
Only use original parts from Leitz.

To re-open bound books
Preparation
•
Move the binding lever of the impressBIND 280 to
the upward position.
•
Compress the opening mechanism
inside the binding well of the impressBIND 280.
Insert the opening wedge into the book.
•
Place the opening wedge
centre of the book and push it as far as possible
towards the spine of the book.
The black thin end of the wedge must point towards the spine
of the book.
Inserting the opening wedge
•
Together with the book, insert the opening wedge
into the opening mechanism. In doing so, rest the
book at the back.
Opening the book
Caution: Danger of crushing fingers/hands!
Grab the lever with both hands and keep other per-
sons away from the machine.
•
Push the binding lever all the way down once or
twice, using both hands.
Removing the opening wedge
•
Remove the opening wedge from the opening mech-
anism together with the book.
•
Remove the opening wedge from the book.
Removing or adding sheets
•
The book is now unbound. You can remove sheets or
add new ones.
•
You can then re-bind the book using the same cover
(up to 3 times).
