2. Safety information

NOTE: Read the safety information before you install the equipment. This equipment must be
installed by a skilled person only. A skilled person is an installer with appropriate technical train-
ing. The installer must be aware of potential hazards during installation and measures available to
minimize risks to the installer and other people.
Before you install this equipment, disconnect all power sources (for example mains, bat-
l
tery, and telephone line) connected to the alarm panel.
Install the equipment indoors in a non-hazardous environment where the following con-
l
ditions are met:
Pollution degree - Maximum 2
l
Over voltages - Category II
l
Internal wiring must be routed to prevent strain on wire and terminal connections, loose
l
terminal connections, and damage to conductor insulation.
Instruct the user that there are no user serviceable parts in this equipment. All equipment
l
must be serviced by a skilled person.

3. Installation

3.1 HSM2955(R) installation

Follow these steps to install the HSM2955(R) audio interface module and audio stations. Review
this section to get an overall understanding of the order of installation. Once this is done, carefully
work through each step.
1.
Insert the 5 stand- offs provided in the position indicated in Figure 1. The stand- offs will
make an audible 'click' when positioned correctly.
2.
Position the module over stand-offs, press firmly to ensure that the module locks in place.
3.
Wire the module to the control panel, microphones, speakers as required (Figure 2).
NOTE: Do not use shielded wire on Corbus wire runs. The distributed capacitance of shielded
wire can significantly reduce signal quality and range. 22AWG shielded wire is recommended for
audio connections only.
4.
Program module as required (see section 4 Programming).
5.
Verify operation.
CAUTION! Do not route wiring over the HSM2955
(R)
module.
Maintain at least 1" (25.4mm)
separation. A minimum distance of 1/4"(6.4 mm)
must be maintained at all points between power
limited and non- power limited wiring. All circuits
are classified for UL installations as Power
Limited/Class II Power Limited, except for the
battery leads which are not power limited. Do not
route any wiring over circuit boards.
