Check that the item does not contain nails,
screws or other objects that may damage the
saw blade.
Always use protective gloves when handling
the blade.
Never place your � ngers or hand on the item
being cut in front of, behind or under the
reciprocating saw while it is running.
The blade must not be in contact with
anything when the saw is started.
Never stop the saw blade by pressing the
tool down or by exerting pressure on the side
of the saw blade.
Do not use cracked, blunt or damaged saw
blades.
Do not attempt to cut items thicker than
the maximum cutting depth of the blade, or
where there is insuffi cient space for the blade
under the item.
Check that the motor's vent holes are not
blocked.
Always use a face mask if excessive amounts
of dust are generated or if cutting hazardous
materials. Always read safety instructions
from the material manufacturer if supplied.
Do not touch the blade or metal � lings until
they have cooled.
NEVER fasten the saw with the blade
pointing upwards in a vice or clamp to use
as a bench saw. This could result in serious
accidents.
Preparation
Replacing the blade
Unplug the reciprocating saw.
Turn the blade holder (2) by hand, and hold
securely. Press the blade (1) fully in, and
release the blade holder. Pull on the saw
blade to check that it is correctly positioned
in the blade holder.
Plug the saw in to the mains and check that
the blade does not move to the side when it
goes in and out.
Use
Start the saw by pressing the on/off button
(3). The blade moves backwards and
forwards. Adjust the speed to the material
you are sawing by turning the speed selector
on the on/off button.
The saw can be kept running for long periods
by pressing the lock button (4). The lock
button can be released by pressing the on/
off button in as far as it will go.
Switch off by releasing the on/off button.
General information about sawing
Never use a blade that is not suitable for the
task and the workpiece.
Hold the saw in front of you using both
hands.
Ensure that the blade is not touching
anything and that the lead is not in the way.
Make sure that the workpiece is clamped
tight, and that the saw line is clearly marked.
Start the saw. Place the baseplate on the
workpiece, and let the saw blade touch the
saw line.
Saw, but do not put more pressure on
the blade than is necessary. Avoid lateral
pressure on the blade.
