12 Temporary removal from service and
deinstallation
12.1 Removal from service
The winch is removed from service in the
following cases:
• Winch failure (see malfunctions list).
• Extended non-use of winch.
In this case, the winch can remain in its
working position provided it is sheltered from
weather and is in a dry location.
Removal from service procedures
• If the winch is operational:
o Unfasten the load from the lifting hook.
o Wind the lifting wire rope (Fig. 1, item 1)
on the drum (Fig. 1, item 3) using the
control unit until the limit stop (Fig. 1,
item 10) is in contact with the limit stop
lever (Fig. 1, item 9).
For a frame installation configuration,
one of the two operators winds the wire
rope on the winch drum by pressing the
up button on the control unit. The
Possible causes
• Power system faulty.
• Strong voltage drop
• Spring-applied brake remains
engaged
• No startup torque (permanent
capacitor faulty or broken
motor coil winding)
• Overload
• Spring-applied brake
mis-adjusted
• Lining of spring-applied brake

second operator guides the wire rope
and removes the idler pulleys while the
wire rope is being wound on the drum.
o Disconnect the winch from the electrical
power source.
o Place the power connector (Fig. 1,
item 20) inside the protective casing
(Fig. 1, item 17).
o Place the control unit inside the
protective casing (Fig. 1, item 17).
• If the winch is not operational:
o Disconnect the winch from the electrical
power source.
o Recover the load using another,
appropriate lifting means, taking all the
necessary precautions to safely carry
out this intervention.
o Wind the lifting wire rope (Fig. 1, item 1)
on a reel with minimum diameter of
200 mm, not supplied by Tractel
care not to damage the wire rope.
