6. PROGRAMMING THE SIREN
The GW 20490 siren must be programmed to acknowledge the transmission code generated by the TX module
installed on the GW 20470, GW 20471 or similar compatible control units.
Operations to perform:
- Place the siren on a surface near the control unit, open the container, hold the Tamper switch open, check that
the coloured wire near the red LED is closed, connect the power to the siren at the correct voltage referring to
the connection drawings, wait for 10 seconds until the incorporated red LED and the front flashing indicator are
both ON with a fixed light.
NOTE: If this operation is done with the Tamper protection CLOSED, the siren may not accept any
commands for 1 minute. If the siren is already switched on with the Tamper closed, next time it is
switched on with the Tamper protection OPEN the local tamper alarm could be activated. In this case it
is necessary to disconnect the power for 10 seconds, and then switch the siren back on with the Tamper
protection OPEN.
Programming with GW 20470 control unit:
To generate and memorize the SIREN CODE, enter the programming menu on the control unit and follow the
instructions provided in the GW 20470 Manual. The self-learning process of the code by the siren requires the
simple operations below:
- Generate the transmission of the SIREN CODE from the control unit.
- When the transmitted code is received correctly the red LED and the front indicator both flash.
- To terminate the self-learning phase, cut the RED wire jumper on the siren electronic board. On interrupting the
jumper, the LED and front indicator stop flashing.
When the self-learning operations have been concluded, it is possible to install the siren, checking that the
position chosen for its installation has the best possible wireless reception.
The closure of the cover automatically closes the Tamper contact which, in turn arms the siren ready for normal
use after a delay time of 2 minutes.
