SERVICE FUNCTION (BOILER SERVICING)
A steam bed needs periodical servicing. Servicing consists of adding a descaler in the appropriate pipe.
Servicing must be carried out at least every 40 hours of boiler operation.
The Display on the right shows the time left before the next boiler servicing cycle.
The SERVICE key starts the boiler servicing cycle.
CLEANING FUNCTION (BOILER CLEANING)
The system keeps track of the operating time (in terms of duration of steam cycles) for regular boiler servicing
operations. The appropriate display (# 2) shows the time left (countdown in hours and minutes) before the
next boiler cleaning cycle is to be carried out. The boiler cleaning cycle should be carried out every 40 hours of
operation. Such value is to be confirmed after tests on the boiler. 5 hours before the rime runs out, the display
shows the word SERVICE (and the time left) flashing. 5 hours later (that is when cleaning is due), the word
SERVICE stops flashing and the service key is backlit blue. When the cleaning cycle starts, the Panel 2 sends
the start command along with the time set for the descaler and the number of rinses. Cleaning the boiler
consists of:
- draining the boiler;
- pouring a descaler in the boiler;
- leaving the descaler in the boiler for a set time (e.g., 10 hours);
- draining the boiler and wash it with water (drain/refill sequence).
To start the boiler cleaning cycle, it is necessary to press the SERVICE key twice. After it is pressed for the first
time, the display shows a message ("INSERT CLEANER") reminding users to pour the descaler in the boiler
and press the SERVICE key again to start the cleaning cycle. The boiler cleaning cycle can be started even if the
operating time has not reached its maximum yet.
The blue backlighting of the SERVICE key indicates that the boiler cleaning cycle is on. The cycle consists of
keeping the descaler in the boiler and then wash (drain and refill) it with water for a set number of times to
remove any descaler and deposit residue. When the cleaning cycle is on, the display shows the countdown
to the end of the cycle itself. The cycle can be stopped by pressing the SERVICE key. The system will wash the
boiler anyway. In this case, the SERVICE key backlighting remains blue, but the display updates the time left to
the end of the cycle. This stage cannot be stopped (the display shows WASHING).
At the end of the cleaning cycle, the operating time is set at zero, if the cycle itself was not stopped by users or
a power failure.
The display suggests to carry out a steam cycle to an empty bath after the cleaning cycle so as to eliminate the
possible odour of descaler in the steam.
In the case of a power failure, the cleaning cycle resumes where it left off.
