5.1.2 Replacement Procedure

(1)
Rotate regulator knob CCW until it stops.
(2)
Turn cylinder valves off.
(3)
Open both bleed valves.
(4)
Loosen CGA-347 hand tight fittings until removed.
(5)
Remove cylinder from cart and store properly for reuse.
(6)
Use a Phillips #2 screw driver to remove top left/right panel screws.
(7)
Loosen (do not remove) bottom left/right panel screws.
(8)
Pivot the panel to approximately 90° exposing the hose connections.
Removing the panel screws holding the lower hose rack in place will allow for the additional pivot
in the panel to operate the wrench. Tools to loosen the lower hose rack screws are a 3/8" Wrench
and a Phillips #2 Screw Driver.
(9)
Use an 11/16" wrench to remove whip end from manifold.
(10) Gently work hose out of plumbing channel and through oval slot in frame.
(11) If reusing bleed valve and CGA-347 hand tight fitting continue here, if not continue with step 12.
Secure fitting assembly at bleed valve.
Using a 5/8" open end wrench remove whip end from bleed valve.
Reinstall new whip to bleed valve.
(12) Install new hose whip, swivel end first, through oval slot in frame.
Pipe Thread Tape will need to be installed to any new our reused connection during this
installation.
A reused connection will require that the pipe threads be cleaned of any pre-existing Teflon Tape
prior to applying any additional Teflon Tape. The Dental Burnishing Tool can help to remove the
Teflon Tape from the thread form.
To apply Teflon Tape start at the second thread and wrap tape (clockwise when viewing threaded
end of the fitting) 1 to 2 ½ times around the fitting.
(13) Work whip swivel end to top of panel and thread into manifold.
(14) Tighten whip end using an 11/16" open end wrench.
(15) Repeat process for opposite side whip replacement.
