Breathing Air Supply

The responsibility of the quality and quantity of breathing air rests with the user. Users must comply
-
with all federal, state, or local regulations.
The air quality supplied to the Breathing Air Distribution System must meet the air quality requirements
-
of ANSI Z86.1-1973 (Compressed Gas Association Specification G-7.1 for Type 1, quality verification
level (grade) D Gaseous Air). Copies of the specification are available from the American National
Standards Institute or the Compressed Gas Association. The air must be within the carbon monoxide
allowed limits and some means of monitoring CO may be required as per NIOSH-approved airline
respirators (see 29 CFR Part 1910.134).
The air source must supply the proper flow at the proper pressure for all the respirators connected to
-
the system. The inside diameter of the air source hose must be of large enough size not to restrict flow
to the system. The air flow and pressure requirements may be found in the respirator's NIOSH
approval. This approval is included in the instructions supplied with each respirator from MSA.
Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.
