Operation Procedure For Breathing Air Segment

(1)
Open one cylinder and keep the second cylinder in reserve.
(2)
Don respirator as per instructions provided with the respirator. Do not don the respirator until the
breathing air supply pressure is properly adjusted.
Do not connect more than four respirators to the manifold.
-
Do not connect respirators that require different inlet pressures to the same manifold.
-
Only connect demand or pressure demand airline respirators to the manifold.
-
This cart has a maximum 18 CFM breathing air flow capacity. Any additional demand may result in an
-
insufficient supply of air to all respirators.
The cylinder contains air under extremely high pressure. Do not damage or misuse.
-
Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury or death.

During Operation

When required by government regulations and if noise or other factors may prevent user from hearing the
low pressure alarm during respirator use, have a responsible person monitor the unit and the air supply.
The person must be required to alert the respirator user if an alarm or other condition occurs requiring the
user to exit the contaminated atmosphere. Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal
injury or death.
Do not use tools to tighten the coupling nut. It is designed to be hand-tightened. Failure to follow this
caution can result in damage to the coupling nut or cylinder valve.
(1)
Check the manifold pressure gauge reading periodically. Keep the reading in the specified range
specified by NIOSH for the respirator.
If the reading changes, adjust the pressure regulator until the gauge reads with in the specified
range. Adding or subtracting respirator hoses may affect the manifold pressure,
Stop operation and remove the respirators if the manifold pressure cannot be brought within the
proper range.
(2)
Change a cylinder when the low pressure alarm sounds as follows:
While the respirators are still in use, open the second cylinder and note the gauge pressure to
assure that the cylinder is full.
Close the empty cylinder valve.
Open the bleeder valve on the pigtail of the empty cylinder.
Loosen and remove the CGA nut on the empty cylinder.
Unlatch the empty cylinder and install a full one.
Close the bleeder valve. This cylinder is now ready for use when needed.
Each pigtail in the system has a check valve that prevents back flow from the cylinder in use.
