Instructions for use
Product description:
V-Print SG is a light-curing acrylic for the generative production of biocompatible dental
drilling templates. Drilling templates made of V-Print SG can be steam sterilised at 134 °C for
max. 5 minutes.
Indications:
– Dental drilling templates
Safety and precautions:
Avoid direct contact between the skin and liquid or uncured V-Print SG. The wearing of protective
clothing is recommended. This should encompass gloves (nitrile), safety goggles and a long-sleeved
lab coat. Further information on the handling of the product can be found on the safety data sheet.
V-Print SG can trigger sensitisation or irritation of the skin and/or respiratory organs. Repeated and/
or prolonged exposure through contact and/or inhalation, including of dusts, can trigger irritations
or even result in serious illness.
Note: Use separate material containers and cleaning baths for each printing material so as to rule out
the possibility of cross-contamination.
Preparation:
V-Print SG is a light-curing acrylic designed for the generative production of articles using a
385 nm LED DLP printer. Information on approved printers is available from the corresponding
device manufacturers and from VOCO.
The following construction conditions must be observed for indication-appropriate CAD construc-
tions:
– Minimum wall thickness 3 mm
Prepare a print job using slicing software. In addition to the material-dependent construction specifi-
cations in these instructions for use, please also observe the dependencies on the positioning, type
of support and adaptation from our other documents for your construction.
V-Print SG can be printed in the following layer thicknesses:
– 50 μm and 100 μm
Processing:
The material container should be filled directly before printing is started. When doing so, ensure the
material is as free from bubbles as possible and pay attention to the fill level.
Note: Do not shake the material before starting printing.
Start the print job observing the previously selected parameters.
We recommend allowing a dripping time of approx. 10 minutes once printing is complete. Then
detach the printed objects carefully from the build platform.
Following this, the printed objects must be cleaned, dried and post-exposed in order to guarantee
the requisite product characteristics. A detailed description of the two steps outlined above can be
found under Post-processing. Post-process the printed object without delay so as to avoid distor-
tion of its shape and ensure the required precision.
Remove the excess material from the material container following printing, so as to allow you to clean
and check the container. The print material can be returned to its original packaging. If necessary, a
separate container can also be used (HDPE, not light-transmissive, airtight).
Please ensure that the excess material intended for further use is free from contaminants and po-
lymerised components. To this end, a stainless steel sieve or similar instrument should always be
used when transferring material.
Post-processing:
Cleaning:
We recommend a solvent-resistant cleaning mat for cleaning.
Cleaning should be performed with isopropanol (≥ 98% purity) in an unheated ultrasound bath. The
respective operating manuals and/or instructions for use provided by the manufacturers must be
observed.
The printed objects must be cleaned in two or optionally in three stages.
Pre-cleaning:
– Optional: Pre-clean printed objects carefully for approx. 15 seconds by repeatedly immersing them
in a beaker of isopropanol. When doing so, hold the component by a support using tweezers.
– Pre-clean the printed objects for 3 minutes in a reusable isopropanol ultrasound bath. Position
uncleaned printed objects in the ultrasound bath in such a way that any openings face downwards.
Note: The bath's cleaning efficacy decreases the more it is used. Replace the bath when the
cleaning efficacy decreases.
Main cleaning:
Clean the printed objects for a further 2 minutes in a fresh isopropanol ultrasound bath.
Then dry them carefully with compressed air.
If there are any resin residues on the printed object after the main cleaning or any exits from the
undercuts during drying, the printed object can be immersed in the main cleaning bath again
briefly before being dried again.
Preparation for post-exposure:
Prior to post-exposure, remove the support structures carefully using a rotary instrument (e.g. a
cutting disc) and without exerting pressure, taking care to make the cut as close as possible to the
printed object. Use a suction device. Remove any remaining resin dust carefully using compressed
air. Then rinse printed objects for a few seconds with fresh isopropanol and remove any dust using
a fine, clean brush if necessary. Then dry the printed objects again carefully using compressed air.
Bonding of drill sleeves:
Coat the exterior of the sleeve and the intended hole in the drilling template with a thin
layer of liquid V-Print SG prior to the post-exposure. Insert the sleeves and remove any excess
material to ensure marginal integrity. Then post-expose the drilling template as described under
"Post-exposure".
Post-exposure:
No protective gas atmosphere is required. However, ensure that the printed objects do not cast
shadows over or touch each other, as this could result in incomplete post-curing.
The post-exposure can be performed with the following devices:
– Otoflash G171 xenon photoflash unit
– LC-3DPrint Box
UV light box
1
In printed objects post-exposed with the Otoflash G171, a cooling-off period of at least 2 minutes
with the lid open must be included after the first 2,000 flashes.
2 × 2,000 flashes
30 minutes
Once the cooling-off period has elapsed, the printed objects should be turned and light-cured with
a further 2,000 flashes.
Insufficient cooling can distort the shape of the printed object.
Finishing:
As a general rule, work with a low contact pressure and speed. This guarantees constant results and
also reduces the risk of undesirable signs of processing.
Use a fine-toothed carbide bur or similar to sand the support stubs. The same bur can also be used
for subsequent finishing of special structures.
For precise sanding, e.g. between the support strut and the printed object, it is recommended that
the surface be processed in the corresponding areas with sandpaper, if necessary with different grain
sizes. A corresponding result can also be achieved with coarser or finer silicone polishers.
Final cleaning:
Clean the object thoroughly. Begin by removing large residues with the steam jet. The subsequent
final cleaning can be performed via brief storage in an unheated water ultrasound bath.
Sterilisation:
The sterilisation process is validated according to DIN EN ISO 17664 and can be used with the
equipment that complies within EN 13060. The instructions for use from the manufacturer have to be
observed and followed. The user is responsible for the sterility of the product. Only use completely post-
exposed and cooled drilling templates to undergo the steam sterilisation! Otherwise a deformation
of the printed object cannot be excluded.
Technical data of the sterilisation process:
134 °C
2,07 - 2,17 bar
Disinfection:
After use, drilling templates produced from V-Print SG can be disinfected with alcohol- or
aldehyde-based disinfectant solutions (e.g., ethanol, MD 520 from Dürr, Cavex Impre Safe from
Cavex). Observe the manufacturer's instructions for use.
Information, precautionary measures:
V-Print SG may only be used intraorally in its completely cured state. Pay attention to the finishing
process.
V-Print SG contains methacrylates. V-Print SG should not be used in case of known hypersensitiv-
ities (allergies) to any of these ingredients.
Storage:
Store at between 15 °C and 28 °C. Seal bottle again immediately after use. The material will cure if
exposed to light. Do not use after expiry date.
