Service position of main chassis, module 999
Replacement of main chassis, module 999
Remove the upper rear panel (6 screws). Unscrew the top display (2 screws). To be
able to operate the product with the chassis in service position, the top display
must be connected to the chassis.
Unplug the aerial plug from the tuner. Unplug P20 on PCB14.
Take the lead connections to the chassis out of their cable holders. NOTE: when the
product is assembled the leads must be reinstalled correctly in their cable holders.
Press down the locking pins E, and pull out the chassis to the fi rst stop. Grab the
chassis frame at the points F at the top, and pull the chassis backwards. The two
PCB frames on either side of the chassis can now be tilted out and away from
each other. Hang the innermost PCB frame on either side on the hooks G in the
aluminium brackets. See
Note! That aluminium brackets may have been replaced by straps.
When assembling the product, make sure to fasten all leads in the cable holders.
This will prevent the occurrence of clinking and clanking sounds at high volumes.
The EHT and focus cables must be run below the picture tube throat and tied to
the cable holders on the degaussing coil. Make sure that they do not come close
to the right output amplifi er since that could damage the output IC.
- Disconnect mains voltage. Disconnect all other cables connected to the Avant 32
DVD.
- In order to avoid electric shock, the picture tube must be discharged. Remove the
high voltage cable from the picture tube.
- Disconnect 14P17 and 32P411. Loosen the 2 screws and remove PCB32 (AC3).
Remember to remount PCB32 in the new chassis.
- Disconnect the plugs 14P10, 14P11, 14P18, 14P20, 14P90, 14P91, 14P431,
14P471, 14P492 and 14P493.
- Disconnect the plugs 1013, 1015 and 1016 on the PCB mounted on the defl ection
coil on the picture tube. Disconnect 9P192 (only in 32") and 3P40. Remove the
ground lead from the picture tube. Carefully loosen PCB3 from the picture tube.
- Disconnect 85P350 (only if PCB61 (STB-C) is mounted). The cover, including
PCB85 (jacksocket) if mounted, must be used in the new chassis.
Disconnect the GND leads placed below the plastic cover.
- Place the chassis in service position. Disconnect 4P44, 4P45 and 4P46 which are
placed inside the chassis. Remove the lead (from 4P46) and the GND lead from the
chassis.
- Close and remove the chassis.
- Remove optional modules and the EEPROM 6IC6 from the defective chassis.
PCB20 (Satellite), PCB42 (PIP/Feature box interface), PCB61 (STB-C).
- Mount the EEPROM 6IC6 in the new chassis. Remember to point the IC in the
right direction. Remount the optional modules in the new chassis.
- Place new chassis in the TV and reconnect 4P44, 4P45 and 4P46 inside the chassis.
- Close the chassis. Ensure that no leads are caught between the chassis and the TV.
- Reconnect all leads to the plugs as before. Ensure that all leads are connected.
Reconnect the ground lead on the picture tube. Mount PCB3 on the picture tube.
Remember to reconnect 3P40.
