Degauss position
Modulator system
Earth fi eld correction
(only Avant 32 DVD)
(Is normally used for adjustment)
In this menu it is possible to set up the position (angle) where Avant 32 DVD will
activate its degaussing circuit. The degaussing position is measured and activated
with reference to the stored Position 1 of the turning stand. That is when you turn
on the TV from St.by and you have programmed the TV to turn to the preferred
position, it will start to turn and when it is getting close to the stored position the
TV will start degaussing and continue with the normal start up procedure.
The reason for introducing this setup is that especially the large RF tubes are rather
sensitive to magnetic infl uence, both from magnetic fi elds caused by for instance
external loudspeakers, and perhaps especially from the Earth fi eld. This fi eld may
cause colour impurity on the screen.
It is important to understand that the setup is a compromise between a short/long
start-up time and best/worst infl uence from the magnetic fi elds.
Delaying the start-up procedure (meaning setup of the "Relative position" close to
0) will optimise the purity of the picture but will give the following disadvantages:
- Prolonged start-up time
- The IR will be "blind" to commands while turning the stand and starting up the TV
- In a link system the whole system will be "blind" to commands when the
Avant 32 DVD is starting up, and this applies both if it is placed in the main room
and in the link room
- Choosing V-Tape from st.by will cause the VTR to start playing immediately but
due to the prolonged start-up time the fi rst seconds of the playback will be lost
You can set up values in the "Relative position" menu between 0 and -60, and
each step corresponds to approx. 2 degrees.

System
BG
When replacing the EEPROM 6IC6, PCB6 or PCB14 where PCB6 is mounted, the
modulator system must be set to the correct system BG or I.

3 Compensation
The Compensation line must always be set to On, but if a faulty geometry in the
picture occurs it can be set to Off, to determine if the fault is in the earth fi eld
compensation circuit or in the defl ection circuits.
