2. Hook the middle of the new nylon cord to the notch located at
the center of the spool (C). One side of the cord should be about
80 mm longer than the other side.

3. Wind both ends firmly around the spool in the direction of the
"RH" arrow (D). "RH" indicates the winding direction for string
trimmers with right hand rotation.
4. Wind all but about 100 mm of the cords. Hold the ends
temporarily hooked through the notches (E).
5. Set the spool into the housing so that the grooves and
protrusions on the spool match up with those in the housing.
6. Unhook the ends of the cord from their temporary position and
feed the cords through the eyelets (F) to come out of the housing.

7. Align the protrusion (G) on the underside of the cover with the
slots (H) of the eyelets. Then push the cover firmly onto the
housing to secure it. Make sure the latches (A) fully spread in the
cover.

Lubricating moving parts
NOTICE: Follow the instruction of the frequency and amount of
grease supplied. Otherwise insufficient lubrication may damage
moving parts.
Drive axle:
Apply grease (Shell Alvania No. 2 or equivalent) every 25 hours of
operation.
Overall inspection
Tighten loose bolts, nuts and screws.
Check for damaged parts. Ask Makita authorized service center
to replace them.

Storage

WARNING: Follow the warnings and precautions in the chapter
"Safety precautions" and the instruction manual of the power unit.
When storing the string trimmer attachment separated from the
power unit, put the cap onto the end of the shaft.
