dislodge dust from the filters. The dust falls down and is collected in the plastic
sack of the receptacle.
Very small particles can pass through the filter package and on to the micro-
filter (optional). This has a very high degree of separation, > 99.997% (DOP).
The cleaned air moves on to the high-pressure fan in the motor assembly. The
air leaves the appliance via noise-abating ducts in the motor assembly. If flow-
through is too small over a sufficiently long period, e.g. due to a closed flap
valve or blocked hose, the motors will become overheated. The suction hose
should therefore not be completely blocked for longer than a few seconds.
Clogged filters, which also reduce the flow of air, can result in overheating.
The appliance should not be used as a stationary vacuum appliance because of
the danger of overheating.

Main components

5.1

Power unit

See Figure 1. The motor assembly includes fan motor, connection cable and
starting equipment. Some models are equipped with automatic electric
starters.
5.1.1

Maintenance

Replace the fan motors in the motor assembly if they are not working
satisfactorily. The motors' carbon brushes are worn out after about 700 hours
of operation. Replacing the motor's carbon brushes more than once is not
recommended. The motor collector becomes worn and new brushes will wear
very quickly. Replace the entire motor instead. The motor is accessible after
unscrewing the motor assembly.
5.2

Filter/Filter package

CAUTION!
The appliance should never be operated with a filter bag only, but should
always be equipped with another filter. Check regularly that the filter is not
defective.
5.3

Micro-filter (optional)

5.3.1

Installation/replacement

See Figures 2–3. Change the micro-filter once a year or more often if
vacuum performance decreases despite cleaning the fine filters. Installation/
replacement of micro-filter, see Figure 3. Use genuine micro-filters only.
Ensure that the rubber gasket on the filter seals tightly against the bottom
of the motor assembly. Leakage between micro-filter and fan inlet must not
occur. Use an approved breathing mask when changing the filters.
5.3.2

Filter package

See Figure 4.
Filter package, Cartridge (4a)
The particles collect on the outside of the filter. Cleaning of the filter is carried
out hourly or when the vacuum performance decreases. If required the
cartridge filter should be changed.
