The PEAK indicator is a unique (Patent Pending) feature of the Model TAA1000 that can be used to test and set-up pulse
and impact tools.
The PEAK circuit is based on the rate of torque / time. As torque increases vs time, the microprocessor monitors the rate of
change. Once the change has reached a reduced slope rate relative to the initial torque rate during the fastening cycle, the LED will
illuminate, indicating that:
·
the bolt (or nut) has ceased rotation
·
maximum torque (95-99%) has been reached
·
the fastener (or joint) has reached YIELD
The bright blue PEAK indicator can also be used to teach an operator when it is OK to stop the tool as the target torque
has been achieved.
The Model TAA1000 calculates the following STATISTICS based upon the total population of memory readings stored as indicated
in the top right corner of the RUN screen. Access the STATS screen through the MENU by pressing the ENTER key and scrolling

Press the RETURN key twice to get back to the RUN screen. Press and hold the RETURN key to CLEAR READINGS.
The BNC connector located in the lower left corner of the front panel is the Analog Output port. Useful for analyzing torque signal
events in "real time", this port is easily connected to an oscilloscope to view the fastening cycle torque time curve or for analyzing
the pulse waveform from a pulse or impact tool.
When viewing the fastening event, problems not evident by the PEAK reading are easily detected such as "stick-slip" joints or
torque overshoot common in hard joint applications with high speed direct drive tools or pulse tools without control.
The signal from the analog port is a track mode torque level that is displayed between 0.5 and up to 4.5 vdc.
