Practical handling
Positioning
MultiGlide with handles is folded approximately every 10 cm or
rolled up until there is no more material available.
If you wish to apply MultiGlide from the head end, always start
by folding the end where the handle is placed.
If you wish to apply MultiGlide from the upper legs, always start
by folding the opposite end from where the handle is placed.
The result is that the handle is ready for use at the user's thighs,
MultiGlide is placed so that the open part is facing away from
user and the folded part is placed under the pillow and shoulders.
One fold at a time has to be unfolded.
Use
After assessment the user can now be mobilised.
Use familiar techniques to turn the user.
To move the user higher up in bed, bend the user's legs, grasp
the handles and put yourself in a "walking position" with one
foot in front of the other and use weight transfer to move the
user higher up.
Always conduct a risk assessment, and ensure that the assistive
product can be used for the individual user and, in combination
with other devices, that it is safe for the user and carers.
Alternate positioning
Alternatively MultiGlide can be placed under the lower back.
Fold MultiGlide together as an "accordion". Then fold the
folded MultiGlide again about 1/3 and push it under the user's
lower back.
A carer on the opposite side can now easily grab MultiGlide and
fold it out.
Then respectively unfold MultiGlide out, up and down.
To remove MultiGlide:
The carer glides one hand between the two sheet layers, locates
the corner on the opposite side and pulls it slowly towards
him/herself, turning MultiGlide inside out.
