Test run
The installer must verify correct operation of the heater kit after
installation. Therefore a test run must be performed according to the
procedure described below.
Using the remote controller of the indoor unit:
1
Activate setting [6-02]=1.
This means that the heater kit is installed and activated.
2
Choose a leaving water temperature (e.g. 65°C).
3
In case a remote controller temperature control or room
thermostat is used, make sure the requested room temperature
is higher than the actual room temperature.
4
Activate setting [8-02]=1.
This means that emergency operation is ON.
5
Activate the remote controller to start the indoor unit.
The indoor unit will start in emergency operation. Please monitor
the leaving and return water temperatures during 20 minutes. A
temperature increase in the returning water should be noticed.
If not, an error code will be received.
Please take into account that heating up a large water volume
only with the heater kit (with limited 6 kW capacity) is a special
operation. Temperature increase can be slow.
6
After the test, put setting [8-02]=0.
This means emergency operation is OFF. If not, the indoor unit
would continue to operate in emergency mode.

PERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Normal operation
During normal heat pump system operation the heater kit can assist
if there is a capacity shortage.
Several parameters are considered for heater operation and heater
step determination. None of these parameters are adjustable by field
setting. These parameters include operation timers, temperature
values, pressure values, pump operation conditions and compressor
operation conditions. All parameters ensure that heater operation is
avoided when not needed.
When the heater is operating, this icon ( will appear on the remote
controller.
Emergency operation
During emergency mode, heating is only done by the heater kit, not
by the heat pump. Activation of emergency mode is done by
changing field setting [8-02]=1.
When the heater is operating, this icon ( will appear on the remote
controller.
NOTE
The heater will stay in emergency operation until the
field setting is set back to default [8-02]=0.
It is advised to activate emergency operation only in
case the heat pump unit is not functioning normally.

AINTENANCE AND SERVICE
In order to ensure optimal availability of the heater kit, a number of
checks and inspections on the heater kit and the field wiring have to
be carried out at regular intervals.
This maintenance should be carried out by your local Rotex
technician.
WARNING
Before carrying out any maintenance or repair activity,
always switch off the circuit breaker on the supply
panel or remove the fuses.
Do not rinse the heater kit. This may cause electric
shocks or fire.
Do not touch water pipes during and immediately after
operation as the pipes may be hot. Your hands may
suffer burns. To avoid injury, give the piping time to
return to normal temperature or be sure to wear
proper gloves.
Do not touch internal parts during and immediately
after operation. Your hands may suffer burns. To avoid
injury, give the piping time to return to normal
temperature or be sure to wear proper gloves.
The described checks must be executed at least once a year by
qualified personnel.
1
Heater vessel insulation cover
Check that the heater insulation cover is fastened tightly around
the heater vessel.
2
Heater electrical parts and connections
Carry out a visual inspection of the switch box and look for
obvious defects such as loose connections or defective
wiring.
Check for correct operation of contactors and relays by use
of an ohmmeter.
