Normally, no pressure-resistance test according to annex 1, section 3.22 of Pressure
n
Equipment Directive 97/23/EC is carried out by the manufacturer. Such a test must be
carried out by the operator after the pipeline system has been installed (PT = 1.43 x PS).
The operator must provide for the necessary safety and monitoring devices in the pipe-
n
line system (e.g. installation of temperature probes, pressure-limiting valves, measures
to prevent pressure surges and water impact).
C
Instructions for Joining Rubber-Metal Pipe Connectors to Pumps
Connect the rubber-metal pipe connecter as close as possible to the pump flange.
n
When using centrifugal pumps to convey abrasive agents, do not install the rubber-metal
n
pipe connectors directly next to the connection piece of the pump (suction/pressure
side). Otherwise, the rubber-metal pipe connectors may be damaged by high relative
speeds caused by swirls and whirls.
The mounting distance between the connection piece of the pump and the rubber-metal
pipe connector must be between 1 and 1.5 x NW.
Do not operate pumps against partly or fully closed slide gates or flaps. Avoid cavitation,
n
too, as it can destroy the rubber-metal pipe connector very soon.
Commissioning
Only check the pressure and tightness after the fixed points and guide bearings have
n
been properly installed; otherwise, the rubber-metal pipe connector will be extended
and become unserviceable.
If the operating temperature is high, take protective measures to avoid personal injuries
n
caused by touching the hot surfaces.
To ensure a reliable operation, rubber-metal pipe connectors may only be operated
n
within the admissible pressure, temperature, and movement limits.
By explaining the system, supervising the operating personnel, and providing operating
n
instructions, the operator must take measures to prevent wrong use of the rubber-metal
pipe connectors.
Utilisation
Before using the rubber-metal pipe connectors, observe their agent-resistance (in case
n
of doubt, see resistance list).
When using them, the operating data listed in the dimension diagrams, the construction
n
drawings, and on the type plate shall be taken as limit values. STENFLEX
liability for any damage caused by operation outside these limits. The operator is res-
ponsible for making sure these stipulations are adhered to (e.g. by using technical safety
devices).
Detailed installation and operating instructions containing the required screw torques
are enclosed with each rubber-metal pipe connector.
