About This Guide

This guide contains step-by-step instructions for
setting up the D-Link DFL-800/DFL-860 Firewall.
Please note that the model you have purchased
may appear slightly different from those shown in
the illustrations.

Unpacking the Product

Open the shipping carton and carefully unpack its
contents. Please consult the packing list located
in following information to make sure all items are
present and undamaged. If any item is missing
or damaged, please contact your local D-Link
reseller for a replacement.

Device Status LEDs and Ethernet Port LEDs
The device LEDs show information about current
device status. When the device is powered up,
the POWER LED changes from off to solid green
and the SYSTEM LED changes from off to solid
green. Startup takes approximately one minute to
complete. The Ethernet LEDs show the status of
each Ethernet port. Table 2 lists the name, color,
status, and description of each device LED.
Note: If you would like to turn the device off and
on again, we recommend waiting a few seconds
between shutting it down and powering it back on.

These are for the connection of an
Ethernet cable to a Cable or DSL
modem.

Ethernet cable to a DMZ network.

These are for the connection of
Ethernet cables to the internal
network.

Console Port
Connects to RS-232 console cable
that connects to PC. The console
port is hidden behind a panel that
can be opened by flipping it down.
