Selection button
Selection of different charging modes:
"Car Charging" mode can be used for all 12 volt lead-acid battery types.
These include standard batteries, maintenance-free batteries, VRLA
(valve-regulated lead-acid batteries), AGM and most GEL types.
"Motorcycle Charging" is equivalent to normal charging, but the
maximum charging current is 1A. This is recommended for the majority
of motorcycle batteries. Batteries which can be charged in this mode
include all Yuasa, JMT and
Varta motorcycle batteries.
"Cold Charging" should be used if the battery temperature is below 5
degrees and for AGM gel batteries!
"Boost" mode attempts to restore a deep discharged battery. This
mode is described in greater detail on the following pages. The mode
is indicated through simultaneous illumination of the LED's for "Normal
Charging" and "Cold Charging". The selection button should be pressed
for 5 seconds to select the "Boost" mode.
Supply mode (continuous illumination of the "Battery Charged" LED)
Supply mode is employed as a power supply if the vehicle is not used
for a longer period of time (e.g. over the winter or when laid off) and
the vehicle electronic components are utilised without the engine. The
warning light lashes in the event of overcharging, while safety
deactivation is triggered in the case of the JMP 8000, JMP 15000 and
JMP 30000 if excessive charging occurs.
Note: the battery charger continues operating in the last mode chosen
if no selection is made within 5 seconds
