3.5. DIN rail connector T-BUS

The T-BUS DIN rail connector can be used for supplying the modules only in connection
with 24 V DC devices.
When using the T-BUS DIN rail connector (Order No.: 2707437) for INTERFACE system communication
and /or voltage supply of individual EMM modules, you plug the required number of T-BUS and press
them into the DIN rail. Please ensure that the EMM module is positioned in the correct alignment to the
T-BUS on the DIN rail (fig.3).
Installing the devices on and removing them from the T-BUS is only permitted in a de-energized state.
The voltage supply is possible at any EMM device, fieldbus module or using the system current supply via
the TBUS.

3.6. Connection variants

3.6.1. Separate switching element
Depending on the particular requirement of the
application, either an electro-mechanical
contactor or reversing contactor combination, or
an electronic load relay or reversing load relay is to
be used for the actual task of switching the load.
The EMM provides four digital outputs for the
activation of these switching elements:
EMM 3-24DC/... Semiconductor outputs with
24 V DC / 500 mA
EMM 3-230AC/... floating relay outputs with
230 V AC/DC / 500 mA
3.6.2. Mains currents up to 16 A (fig. 4)
Thanks to their integrated current transformers,
the EMM 3-.../500AC-16-IFS are suitable for
mains currents of up to 16 A.
The external switching element is activated
directly via the EMM.

3.6.3. Mains currents > 16 A - external current transformer (fig 5)
For higher currents > 16 A, use the EMM 3-.../500AC-IFS modules. These also require external current
transformers. Here, select one with a secondary nominal current of 5 A. The primary nominal current is
determined based on the power consumption of the load.
You can find suitable current transformers in the Phoenix Contact INTERFACE catalog.
Current converters and the measuring instruments to be connected to them may only be
installed when the system has been disconnected from the power supply!
• Observe the order in which the current converters are connected when wiring them (direction of current
flow).
Primary circuit: K-P1 -> L-P2; secondary circuit: k-S1 -> I-S2
When the current converter is operated with an open secondary circuit, dangerous
voltages can occur at the secondary terminal blocks!
