4. Function
4.1. Operation and operating modes
4.1.1. Status LEDs
The EMM visualizes the operating states
with total five (5) LEDs. The function of the
LEDs depends on the NAMUR
recommendation NE 44.
After the rated surge supply voltage is
applied, all LEDs light up once as LED test.
The general device status is displayed with
a green LED.
An internal or external error (process
error: overcurrent, asymmetry, phase
failure) is signaled with a red LED. The
device is then switched off safely.
Error acknowledgement is necessary for
exiting this state (external error).
All internal errors cannot be
acknowledged and are saved in
flash.
The device then cannot be put
into operation again.
The left or right rotation of the drive is
displayed with a yellow LED.
4.1.2. Error acknowledgment
There are four error acknowledgement
options:
• Manual (reset button):
An acknowledgement is triggered by actuating the reset button on the front side of the device. After
approx 2 s, the reset button is actuated again and the EMM again has an error.
• Manual (remote acknowledgement):
A remote acknowledgement operating point can be realized with a connection of a button (N/O contact)
to IN4. Acknowledgement is triggered as soon as a positive edge is detected at the input. If a negative
edge is not detected after approx 2 s, the EMM has the error again since possibility of a manipulation
or a defect in the acknowledgement circuit cannot be ruled out.
• Manual (software): Operating software can be used for acknowledgement.
• Automatic: Automatic acknowledgement can be parameterized for certain errors.
4.1.3. Feedback
All unused outputs of the EMM are present for feedbacks. The behavior of the feedback outputs is
determined by means of parameterization.

4.2. Parameterization
The provided configuration software CONTACTRON-DTM-IFS is required to "parameterize" and
"visualize" the EMM. The USB programming adapter IFS-USB-PROG-ADAPTER (Order No.: 2811271)
is also required.
Use of the configuration software for:
• Display and recording of operating data for further processing in databases.
• Definition of switching output types, such as:
digital outputs without switching function, direct starter, reversing starter, star delta starter, circuit
breaker, dual-speed starters, etc.
Inputs IN1 to IN3 are specifically assigned to functions (motor function or digital output).
Input is specifically assigned to remote reset.
