Technical refinements
Your Big Pilot's Watch shows you the time in hours, minutes and seconds,
as well as the date and the power reserve. The mechanical movement, with
44 rubies and self-winding, has a power reserve of 7 full days (168 hours)
when fully wound. The engraved rotor winds the watch in both directions of
rotation by means of the Pellaton winding mechanism patented by IWC.
The platinum or special steel case, with its screw-down crown and sapphire
glass (hardness grade 9), protects the internal workings of the watch from
external influences. The soft iron inner case also protects the movement
from magnetic fields up to 32 000 A/m. The Big Pilot's Watch is shock-
resistant, anti-magnetic and water-resistant to a depth of 60 metres. If this
exceptional watch is to perform its future tasks, it is absolutely essential
to follow a few important operating instructions.
