STORAGE
When the hearing protector is not in use, store it so that the headband is not extended and the
cushions are not compressed. Keep the muffs dry and clean and store them at normal room
temperature. Do not allow the hearing protector to lie in direct sunlight. If the product is to be
stored for a longer period it is recommended that you remove the batteries from the battery
compartment to prevent the batteries from damaging the product.
LIMITED TROUBLE SHOOTING/CARE ADVICE
If the electronics stop working there may be a simple remedy. Please check the following:
• Replace the old batteries with new ones.
• Ensure that the batteries are correctly fi tted in the hearing protector.
• Ensure that the battery plates make good contact with the batteries.
• Ensure that the battery plates have not become coated.
• When the hearing protector is used for a long time, moisture can build up inside the muffs.
To prevent the effects of long-term exposure to moisture on the electronic components it
is recommended that the acoustic absorbent is removed regularly so that the inside of the
muffs can dry out, e.g. overnight (fi gure C). If these measures do not help, consult the point
of sale.
• This hearing protector is equipped for electronic reproduction of ambient sound. The user
must check its operation before using the product. If distortion or some other fault is
detected, follow the instructions for replacement and maintenance of the batteries. If this
does not help, consult an authorised dealer.
• Performance can deteriorate as the battery discharges. In normal use, the estimated life of
the batteries is about 600 hours (Pro Line).
• Remember that hearing protectors in general can shut out ambient sound, such as warning
shouts, alarms and other important signals. Be especially aware of your surroundings when
wearing hearing protectors.
• The integrated microphones for reproduction of ambient sound increase safety considerably
in your daily work. If the ambient sound reproduction is turned off or volume reduced, warning
signals and warning shouts may be diffi cult to hear. To minimize the risk of accidents we
therefore recommend that ambient sound reproduction is switched on whenever possible.
• The output signal from the ambient sound reproduction circuit can exceed the actual external
sound level.
• If the ambient sound reproduction deteriorates in rain or other wet conditions, immediately
allow the microphones in the hearing protector to dry out (with open muffs for 24 hours) until
performance is fully restored.
• The product and the batteries must be disposed of in conformance with national regulations.
Failure to follow the above warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.
TESTING AND APPROVALS
Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is third-party certifi ed in accordance with ANSI Specifi cations,
ANSI S3.19-1974 and CSA Class B.
Use Limitations
The level of noise entering a person's ear, when hearing protection is worn as directed, is
closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and
the NRR.
Example: The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dB(A). The NRR is
21 decibels (dB). The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 71dB(A)
[92 - 21dB(A)].
