6. Service
Tool service must be performed only by qualified
repair personnel. Service or maintenance per-
formed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk
of injury.
3. Specific safety rules and symbols
3.1 Specific information concerning safety
In addition to the general safety rules, the following points
must be strictly observed at all times.
Hold tools by insulated gripping surfaces when per-
G
forming an operation where the cutting tool may
contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with
a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool
"live" and shock the operator.
Connect the tool to an external dust removal system
G
if the material to be cut produces dust hazardous to
health.
Modification of the tool is not permissible.
G
Do not use the tool for cutting tree branches or logs.
G
3.2 Take the necessary precautions to make the
workplace safe
Ensure that the workplace is well ventilated.
G
Keep the area above and below the cutting line free of
G
obstacles.
To avoid tripping and falling when working, always lead
G
the supply cord, extension cord and extraction hose
away to the rear.
Concealed electric cables or gas and water pipes pre-
G
sent a serious hazard if damaged while you are work-
ing. Accordingly, check the area in which you are work-
ing beforehand (e.g. using a metal detector). External
metal parts of the tool may become live, for example,
when an electric cable is damaged inadvertently.
3.3 General safety precautions
Use the right electric tool for the job. Do not use the
G
tool for purposes for which it was not intended. Use
the tool only as directed and when it is in faultless
condition.
Take the influences of your surroundings into account.
G
Do not expose the tool to rain or snow and do not use

When servicing a tool, use only identical replace-
ment parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance
section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or

a risk of electric shock or injury.
it in damp or wet conditions. Do not use the tool where
there is a risk of fire or explosion.
Keep the tool, especially its grip surfaces, clean and
G
free from oil and grease.
Always hold the tool securely with the grip provided.
G
Switch on the tool only after it has been brought into
G
position where the cut is to be made.
The dust removal hood should not be disassembled.
G
Switch the tool off before transporting it.
G
Never place your hands in front of or on the saw blade.
G
Safety devices or other parts that are found to be dam-
G
aged must be replaced or repaired properly by an
authorized repair workshop unless otherwise indi-
cated in the operating instructions.
Children must be instructed not to play with the tool.
G
The tool is not intended for use by children, by debil-
G
itated persons or those who have received no instruc-
tion or training.
3.3.1 Mechanical
Observe the instructions concerning care and main-
G
tenance and replacement of insert tools in good time.
Ensure that the insert tools used are equipped with the
G
correct connection end system and that they are prop-
erly fitted and secured in the chuck.
The safety guard for the saw blade must always be
G
fitted in order to prevent inadvertent contact with the
saw blade or the moving parts above the saw blade.
3.3.2 Electrical
Check the condition of the tool's supply cord at reg-
G
ular intervals. The supply cord should be replaced by
a trained electrical specialist if damage is found. Also
regularly check the condition of extension cords and
replace these if damage is found.
Check the condition of the tool. Do not operate the tool
G
if it is found to be damaged, if it is not complete or if
its controls cannot be operated faultlessly.
Do not touch the supply cord in the event of it suffer-
G
ing damage while working. Disconnect the supply cord
plug from the socket.
