1. Before starting, check the Crack Chaser wheel to make sure it has
been properly installed. All guards and debris deflectors must be in
good condition and properly installed.
2. Adjust Crack Chaser cleaning depth by adjusting the position
of the guide wheel up or down. Check depth by holding unit in
normal operating position, and observing brush position in a crack.
• Lowering Guide Wheel - Decreases cleaning depth.
• Raising Guide Wheel - Increases cleaning depth.
WARNING
Hold Power Edger securely with both hands, fingers firmly
wrapped around handles. Crack Chaser must always be supported
by guide wheel during operation to prevent Crack Chaser wheel
hubs from contacting cleaning surface. Hub contact with crack
edges may cause Crack Chaser wheel to spin out of crack suddenly.
3. Temporary changes in cleaning depth can be made by raising or
lowering the Power Edger power head working position as needed:
• Raising Power head - Increases cleaning depth by pivoting
Crack Chaser wheel down.
• Lowering Power head - Decreases cleaning depth by pivoting
Crack Chaser wheel up.
4. Start unit, and allow to run for one minute before beginning
cleaning to check for flutter or vibration of Crack Chaser wheel.
5. Place unit into position above crevice, and lower Crack Chaser into
opening gradually until desired cleaning depth is reached.
6. Guide Crack Chaser along crack, using guide wheel for support
and to control cleaning depth. Allow rotating speed and sharp
edges of filaments to perform cleaning action. Do not force unit.
7. Remove Crack Chaser from crevice if width of crevice becomes
too narrow for full width of wheel.
8. At end of each crevice being cleaned, release throttle, and allow
Crack Chaser to stop rotating. Pull unit back slightly, and lift
Crack Chaser wheel out of crack.
9. Observe Crack Chaser for wear during use, and adjust guide wheel
position to prevent Crack Chaser hubs from contacting work
surface.
