Installation

Installation
▶ Check that the DHW cylinder is complete and undamaged.
5.1

Installation location

NOTICE: System damage due to inadequate load-
bearing capacity of the installation surface or unsuitable
substrate!
▶ Ensure that the installation surface is level and offers
sufficient load-bearing capacity.
If there is a danger that water may collect on the floor of the installation
site:
▶ Place DHW cylinder on a plinth.
▶ Position the DHW cylinder in dry internal areas that are free from the
risk of frost.
▶ Observe the minimum room height ( tab. 11, page 62 and tab. 12,
page 63) and the minimum wall clearances in the installation location
( Fig. 10, page 66).
5.2

Positioning the DHW cylinder, fitting the thermal

insulation

NOTICE: Material damage from a low ambient
temperature.
If the ambient temperature is below 15 °C, the foil jacket
tears while closing the zipper.
▶ Warm the foil jacket (in a warmed-up room) to above
15 °C.
The following applies for the ErP "B" type:
▶ The hydraulic connection can be established before
the thermal insulation is installed.
400/500 litre cylinder ( Fig. 11ff, page 66)
▶ Remove packaging.
▶ Remove casing lid and top insulation.
▶ Remove thermal insulation (ErP "B") or foil jacket (ErP "C") and store
provisionally.
▶ Unscrew the cylinder from the pallet.
▶ Optional: fit the adjustable feet (accessory).
▶ Position and align the cylinder
▶ Fitting the thermal insulation
– ErP "B": establish hydraulic connection, fit separate thermal
insulation. Close with Velcro fastener
– ErP "C": fit foil jacket. Close the zipper.
▶ Place the top insulation and casing lid on.
▶ Attach the front hand-hole cover.
▶ Remove the cap.
▶ Attach Teflon tape or thread.
750/1000 litre cylinder ( Fig. 11ff, page 66)
▶ Remove packaging.
▶ Provisionally store bag with accessories and floor insulation panel.
▶ Remove casing lid and top insulation.
▶ Provisionally store thermal insulation:
– ErP "B": separately packaged polystyrene jacket.
– ErP "C": remove foil jacket.
▶ Remove fixing straps.
▶ Pull off the PU rigid foam halves with two persons.
▶ Unscrew cylinder from the pallet.
▶ Lift the cylinder off the pallet.

▶ Optional: fit the adjustable feet (accessory).
▶ Position and align the cylinder
▶ Attach floor insulation panel, paying attention to the slots for the feet.
▶ Fitting the thermal insulation
– Fit PU rigid foam half-shells, draw together with a ratchet strap,
tap. Fit fixing straps. Remove ratchet strap.
– ErP "B": fit fleece strip round the connector pipes and attach
fleece circular blank for the cover and push in firmly. Make a hole
for the connector in the polystyrene jacket by cutting round the
perforation with a cutter knife. Fit top layer, unrolling it to the
right. Pay attention to the position of the connector. Close Velcro
fastener
– ErP "C": fit foil jacket, pull zipper shut
▶ Place the top insulation and casing lid on.
▶ Mount logo.
▶ Attach the front hand-hole cover.
▶ Remove the cap.
▶ Attach Teflon tape or thread.
5.3

Hydraulic connection

WARNING: Risk of fire from soldering and welding!
▶ When soldering or welding, apply suitable protective
measures (e.g. cover the thermal insulation), since
the thermal insulation is combustible.
WARNING: Risk to health through contaminated water!
Work carried out without due care for cleanliness
contaminates the potable water.
▶ Install and equip the DHW cylinder hygienically in
accordance with national standards and guidelines.
5.3.1

Connecting the DHW cylinder on the water side

System example with all recommended valves and taps ( Fig. 27,
page 71 [SM...] and Fig. 26, page 71 [SU...]).
▶ Use installation material that is heat-resistant to 160 °C (320 °F).
▶ Never use open expansion vessels.
▶ Use metal connection fittings in potable water heating systems with
plastic pipes.
▶ Size the drain line in accordance with the connection.
▶ To facilitate blow-down, never install elbows in the drain pipe.
▶ If using a non-return valve in the supply pipe to the cold water inlet:
install a pressure relief valve between the non-return valve and the
cold water inlet.
▶ Install a pressure reducer, if the static pressure in the system is
> 5 bar.
▶ Seal all non-used connections.
Only fill DHW cylinders with potable water.
▶ During filling, open the highest positioned tap ( Fig. 29, page 72).
5.3.2
Installing a pressure relief valve (provided by the
customer)
▶ Install a pressure relief valve that is approved for potable water
(DN 20) in the cold water pipe ( Fig. 27, page 71 and Fig. 26,
page 71).
▶ Observe the installation instructions for the pressure relief valve.
▶ Terminate the discharge pipe of the pressure relief valve via a
dewatering point, which is located in a frost-proof area that is easily
visible.
