be safely disposed of. Ensure that once installed, the
power lead is adequately secured.
SUSPENDED MODE
If the Titan 300 is to be suspended, suspension eyes are
supplied to enable this to be done. To affix, remove the
screws in the unit top using a pozidrive 2 screwdriver, fit
the suspension eyes onto the screws and reinsert into the
top of the unit. Ensure that the screws are fixed tightly.
For safety reasons PestWest recommend that when
suspended, each of the hanging chains (which are not
supplied) should be of non-corroding material that
is capable of taking at least 15 kg (30 lbs.) each. Only
welded link chains should be used in corrosive/damp
environments.
For ease of service and rehanging, it is recommended
that the chain be fitted with a spring release clip at the
end connected to the fly killer, ensuring that they also are
capable of supporting 15 kg each.
WALL-MOUNTING TITAN 300
Using the template provided, mark off the 2 fixing points
onto the mounting surface. Alternatively, mark the 2
fixing points horizontally and 400 mm apart directly
onto the mounting surface.
Using the 2 rawl plugs and screws supplied, the unit
simply hooks onto the 2 screws via the keyhole cutouts
in the rear of the unit. Drill 6mm holes to a depth of
35mm. Using the rawl plugs provided, insert the screws
into the holes to leave 5mm protruding. Then hang the
unit onto the 2 protruding screws ensuring it is secure.
Ensure the wall is adequate for the type of fittings
supplied. If the unit is mounted on plasterboard or
similar walls appropriate fixings should be used.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Apart from lamp and occasional starter replacement,
the only maintenance is to keep the unit clean. Always
disconnect from the supply before handling the unit.
Empty any dead insects from the catch tray and remove
any, which may have fallen into the bottom of the unit.
Clean the killing grid. Remove the catch tray, remove the
front guard from the unit by lifting upwards then swing
it outwards from the lower edge. Remove the lamps
by twisting them through 90 degrees and withdraw
from the unit. Unplug the killing grid from the bottom
retaining bar and remove. Wipe with a brush or nylon
scourer, if it is very dirty. A short soak in hot water with
mild detergent will clear most stains. Ensure that the
grid is thoroughly dry before replacing in the unit. Do
not bend or separate the two halves of the grid from the
white spacers or you will find it difficult to reassemble.
Wipe the body of the unit with a cloth dampened
with warm water and mild detergent or methylated
spirit. Do not use abrasives such as steel wool or metal
scouring pads.
Reassemble the unit in the reverse order ensuring the
grid is correctly located in the spring-loaded connectors.
Unless you are able to be certain of your maintenance
schedules, under the principle of due diligence, it is
advisable to consider a regular maintenance contract.
Even if you have purchased your unit outright, this is the
simplest way to ensure a long and troublefree life of your
purchase.
SAFETY
PestWest EFK units have been designed to European
highest standards and are manufactured from quality
materials. All European models have been tested and
certified for compliance with the Safety Standard IEC
60335-2-59. This standard is specifically for electrocuting
flying insect control equipment.
COVERAGE
In general terms, the brighter the surrounding light, the
larger the light output necessary from the EFK and the
greater the number of units required for a given area.
For average indoor lighting conditions, the following
guidelines have been found successful:
Suspended mode - 180m
2
Wall-mounted mode - 90m
2
Coverage is greater when suspended as the unit will
attract insects from all angles, when wall-mounted the
area of coverage will be reduced.
LAMP REPLACEMENT
To maintain maximum efficiency fit PestWest Quantum
BL ultraviolet lamps as replacements. Insects are
attracted to the unit by UV light emitted by the lamps.
This light, which is invisible to the human eye, reduces
with time, even though to us the lamps does not appear
to change.
To maintain efficiency, we recommend annual
replacement. Using fly control products which are fitted
with PestWest Quantum BL shatter resistant lamps with
FEP coating as standard, or as replacements provides the
easiest and safest solution for significantly reducing the
risks of contamination from glass breakages.
To remove the lamps, proceed as follows:
Disconnect the power.
Remove the catch tray.
Remove the front guard clear of the body by lifting
upwards then outwards.
Grasp each lamp in turn, rotate approximately 90° in
either direction and withdraw lamp to the front of
the unit.
To install new lamp, reverse the above procedure.
Replace the lamp only with the correct type. For
example, do not use germicidal lamps because they
operate at a different wavelength, which is
hazardous to the eye and skin. The correct lamp,
PestWest shatter resistant Quantum BL, is rated at 15
watts each UVA output.
STARTER REPLACEMENT
Turn off power.
Access to the starters can be gained by removing the
catch tray and then removing the front guard clear of the
body by lifting upwards then outwards. The starters are
located inside the unit and are fitted into the top metal
plate in the roof of the unit.
Rotate each starter anticlockwise and pull out.
Replacement starters should be:
FS22 or S2 Series starters.
GUARANTEE
All PestWest units are supplied with a 3-year guarantee
(excluding lamps and starters)
