C7735A1000 Duct Air
Temperature Sensor
APPLICATION
The C7735A1000 Duct Air Temperature Sensor
(DATS) is a duct-mounted temperature probe used to
sense discharge air temperature in zoning
applications for high and low temperature limit
protection. Alternatively, it is used with certain
thermostats for delta-T diagnostics and IAQ control.
For more on these applications, please see the
installation instructions for those products.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
3. Installer must be a trained, experienced service
technician.
4. After completing installation, use these instruc-
tions to check out the product operation.
IMPORTANT
Do not locate the DATS probe in a duct near
the heat exchanger or strip heat, which can
cause false temperature readings.
It is recommended to set the high limit approx. 15°F
below the furnace high limit. Some modern furnaces
have low high limit settings, so if the DATS is used
with a zone panel, make sure the correct zone panel is
selected for the equipment.
The HZ221 zone panel is for heat pumps only and has
a fixed high limit (120°F for heat pump. 160°F for aux
heat) and low limit (45°F). The HZ311 has a fixed high
limit (160°F) and low limit (45°F). The HZ322 &
HZ432 zone panels have adjustable high limit
M33115
(110°F-180°F) and low limit (30°F-60°F).
1. Assemble the DATS by attaching the metal sen-
sor probe to the plastic cap. Insert the plate of
the probe into the two tabs on the inside bottom
of the cap. Then rotate the plate clockwise until
it clicks into the single top tab.
2. Locate the DATS on the supply trunk between
the bypass damper and the evaporator coil
and/or heat exchanger. If a bypass damper is
not used, locate the DATS between the zone
dampers and the evaporator coil and/or heat
exchanger. See Fig. 2.
